Shit here in NoVa really isn't that bad. A bit of rain with some light gusts, but nothing horrifying. Worst thing about this storm so far was driving home, all the idiots on the road were going like 15 miles below the speed limit.

Well Boss, look at all the reports of people trying to steal the copper in power lines lately.

I think his statement has less to do with safety, and more to do with not stealing shit just to scrap the copper.

I never thought of that but it's true. They will probably find a few people smoking on the ground next to the wires and their pick-up trucks. Some of those people are fucking crazy !!

Uhhhh... I was about to leave work, but can't get a cab. I only have to go one mile.

Do I chance it on a bike?

Well...so much for that. The bike stations are all locked up. Metro is closed. Can't get through to a cab company. And the gusts are getting REALLY strong now (and I think we have a few hours until peak). I actually walked about 3 blocks to check the next bike station, but it's locked up, too.

It's just like a storm most of the time. But when those gusts come along. It definitely scares you a little. You feel very, very small all of a sudden.

So, I'm stuck at the office. Oh well. I had some work to do anyway. Probably safer and less likely for the power to go out anyway.

Also, you guys are funny. :)

WTF is a bike station?

I joined Capital Bikeshare. Only costs $75 a year and you can take out a bike from any station. First half hour is free and my commute is only 10 minutes on the bike. I've got a nice Jamis, but then I have to worry about grease on my pants, putting on my pedal clip shoes, etc. And there are stations less than a block from my office and my apartment. So it's cheap and convenient.
