are any of the cyber metrics guys still here????

I need to know why a hight BABIP is a bad thing. it stands for Batting Average on Balls In Play....

I dont get it

If it's higher than their career average, it means they are getting lucky and likely due for a correction

Yes...its Batting average w/o Stikeouts and Home Runs

Fangraphs has a guys career BABIP. So if you look at his current BABIP to match with his career.

So if its lower than his career BABIP. Its the reverse...he is getting unlucky and be getting better..

It speaks to luck. If a guy has a career .300 BABIP, but a month into the season he's sporting a .390, well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that .390 is unsustainable, and a correction is a coming.

I just disagree on a whole ... the C's struggled big time this year with Rondo

Yeah, for a couple months.

They have been slow starters for the past few years.. they turn it on when it counts.

Huh?

Unless you consider "this year" to be May 16, 2012 - May 15, 2013... I have no clue what you're getting at..

you said "this millennium"...so unless you're willing to admit that sometimes things don't fit exactly their label, what "millenniums" are only 13 years?

You're a joke, dude... A know-nothing, joke...

As if your Blue Jays posts aren't bad enough... You really don't have to kick it up a notch with the NBA stuff.

Go watch the Celtics/Heat ECF from last year and then get back to me.

You mean when lebron went ape shit and totally took care of the series. In three quaters. You mean when the heat went back home and got rid of the celtics. Like i said at the end if the day playing the heat tough is a moral victory and about thw only victory the celtics would see in a series vs. The heat. Now go fishin like the boys in green and get back to me when they do see the heat again in a playoff series

Real Heat fans wanted nothing to do with Boston.

I know a lot of them... To a man they all talk about how tough the Celtics always play them.

Because, ya know, they always do.

And you know they get bounced. Since the big three era.. yeah ya know they always do

Seems it would be much less valuable for a younger player that doesn't have a large sample size to support the average. Also seems not to take into account a player becoming a better hitter - e.g. a lefty who was shut down by the shift who then starts going opposite field a lot to avoid the shift.

Which goes back to the whole "Heat are really lucky that Rondo and Rose got hurt..." thing.. Which was the point of the whole conversation.

Rose and the bulls got eliminated by the heat in how many games??the heat are better and deeper now than last year and they are lucky rose and rondo arent around.. please.. what a joke you are

How come you don't engage in serious talk with Dirt like you do with Nasty?
