I was going to make a thread tomorrow on gameday named Rangers vs. my favorite non-Ranger. I didn't remember you being a big fan of his. Did you want the Rangers to pull the trigger on the trade a few years back, when his name was still Mike Stanton?

I wonder how different things would be with him in our line-up? I didn't want to trade Perez, but I was even willing to trade Gallo and Profar +, and Gallo has been my favorite minor leaguer since he got some time in ST games a couple years back.

I know absolutely nothing about the Mets farm system.

But watching a few minutes of the Mike Francesa Show today on FSSW he said they are loaded with arms, but the Mets are in dire need of a SS.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'd be willing to trade EA without hesitation nowadays. I'd like to see how Profar does first though when he starts his rehab soon. How great would it be to trade him for some pitching while unloading some, or all of that contract? I've never been as high as most on Profar, but I do feel confident in saying his offensive numbers will be better that Elvis'.

Bonus: Wash wouldn't be able to put EA in the 2 spot.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of dealing for Stanton. I still covet him. I love the way he plays, and his swing is just damn impressive. I hope he doesn't get extended in Miami.

Two questions for ya.....(1) You do realize EA is hitting something like .320 over his last 35 games? (2) Being devils advocate: We're 15 games into next season, and Beltre blows a tire and is out for 2 months. Who plays 3rd?

I think you're correct on Profar hitting with more authority than EA and that's not close really. However, part of the problem with EA and his hitting is his hitting 2nd instead of 7th where he should be if we fielded a decent offensive team.

The fact that he's leading the majors in HR's while having to hit them in Yosemite is most impressive. He will cost so much now in a trade, if he doesn't get extended. Every team in the majors will be trying to put a package together. If he were to hit FA we would have no chance. Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, and Red Sox would make sure of it.

I just hope he doesn't get suck in Miami his whole career. He and baseball deserve better than that jackass Loria.

I hope they bring Kouz back if he is healthy.

Yes, I realize Elvis is hitting well over his last however many games. He did the same thing last year. We had a good offensive team 2 years ago and EA was hitting 2nd. As long as he's on this team I think Wash puts him in that spot. Elvis could hit over .300 for the rest of the year, and I would still bet he hits around .260- .270 next year. The value is still not there. He doesn't drive in runs. He has no power. If I can unload that contract while getting a good return I would do it in a heartbeat.

2) A minor leaguer or our utility IFer. You never know who might step up by then. If Beltre blows a tire it's bad news no matter who replaces him.

I feel Elvis is replaceable, and starting pitching is our biggest weakness headed into next year. His WAR is 1.2. Leonys' is over twice as much to put that in perspective.

Dustin Ackley has a higher WAR than EA and his OBP is .292. That's depressing. I like EA, but not near as much as I used too. I hoped we would see him take another step and it just isn't happening. Other teams have noticed too, and it's going to be hard to unload that contract. So this whole discussion could be pointless. Lol.

Just now on TR:

A group of high-profile Rangers players has cleared revocable waivers, according to a report from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Ace Yu Darvish, star third baseman Adrian Beltre, young shortstop Elvis Andrus, and recent free agent-signee Shin-Soo Choo have all cleared. (Outfielder Alex Rios has already cleared waivers.) Meanwhile, lefty Neal Cotts is still on waivers, with his period set to expire tomorrow.
Of course, just because that set of big names has cleared names does not necessarily mean that other teams do not want them, let alone that they are likely to be dealt. As Heyman notes, even if a team was interested in adding Darvish or Beltre, placing a claim would start a clock that could well be too short to complete such a significant deal. In the case of Choo, his down year and massive contract made it quite unlikely that another team would want to take his contract.
Andrus, on the other hand, is a more interesting case. His eight-year, $120MM extension (which includes both opt-out and vesting option provisions) does not kick in until next year. The 25-year-old has struggled to take the next step at the plate, and owns a .271/.326/.337 batting line over the 2013-14 time frame. Though he is a productive fielder and baserunner, that batting line has limited his cumulative value over that period to 4.4 fWAR and 4.9 rWAR. While his name has been mentioned as a trade possibility, the contract would certainly be a major complication, and it is perhaps somewhat telling that he was left unclaimed.
Ultimately, Cotts seems the most likely to actually change hands. Executives tell Heyman that the setup man will likely be claimed, in which case Texas will have the option of working out a trade, allowing his contract to be assumed by the claiming team, or pulling him back. The 34-year-old is earning just $2.2MM this year and will be a free agent at season’s end, making some sort of transaction seem rather likely. Though he has taken a step back from a stellar 2013 (1.11 ERA with 10.3 K/9 against 2.8 BB/9), Cotts has still been fairly productive this year. He owns a 3.54 ERA and 9.6 K/9 versus 3.4 BB/9 over 53 1/3 frames, with peripherals that suggest he has pitched slightly better. The veteran has actually been somewhat more effective against righties (.673 OPS) than lefties (.731 OPS) on the season.

The best way to take Elvis out of that second spot would be to fire wash. That would fix a lot of problems.

Kouzy stepped up while he had the chance, but his chance was very limited. He could just as well have another season where he hits .235 in 240 ABs like he did a couple of years ago. He would be better than some backup 3B that we have had though.

Where can they find another Herbert Perry?

I forgot MB has Joe Mikulik as their manager. He was kicked out the other day with a not as bad tirade as he has been known to have. Left his shoes and jersey on home plate after being ejected.

Herbert Perry--as Ben Kenobi would say, "Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time."
