DJ Monroe, a RB ran a 4.25 40.

I've said many times on this board......Texas has the most speed at all skill positions in the nation. Yet it was never used.

Monroe is the all time leading YPC leader in Texas history at 7.3 ypc.......yet he got 1 touch combined against OU, KSU, WVU, and TCU.........:L

All that talent to waste, and nobody ever gets fired.......

Shit.

So the Cowboys will draft him in the 4th or 5th round to replace Felix.

I expect him to be another Steve Slaton but more longevity.

The problem with schools like USC, Texas and Ohio State is that they can really take the best players ever year from their own state. And if they DONT take all the high recruits they get trashed by the media and fans. So they always will take the fastest guys even though that is all they end up with as a player, speed. Its the negative to being a top school in a top recruiting state.

I think he'll be more like Leon Washington

He'll be drafted as a STs player to return kicks......not sure he sees the field as RB. He can't play WR because he has no hands........

Texas gets more criticized for the players they DON'T take, like Manziel and RG3. Neither were highly ranked prospects, either.

True, but how much of that is after the fact? For instance if Texas dropped a 5 star (who ends up at OU) for a 3 star player (who was going to Texas Tech) in 2013, wouldnt most Texas fan be pissed off about That?

Yes they would......but all I hear about is all the kids we didn't take, like there was ever a chance we would have. Take Andrew Luck for example. He was in Garrett Gilberts class.

Gilbert had won 3 straight state titles, was putting up tecmo bowl passing numbers, and was the Gatorade National player of the year. Understandably, Luck shopped his wares elsewhere. But all I hear is the griping about not taking Luck......there would have been a riot complete with pitchforks and torches if we had passed on Gilbert.

Texas did not utilize him well. Same with M Goodwin.

It wouldn't take much for him to do better in the pros than college. Heck, what did he do in college. Practically nothing. It seems like Texas had a lot of talent last year and should have won at least 2 more games.

Texas has just guessed wrong on a lot of QB's. I never thought Gilbert would be a failure.

You guys are really a unique case though. You could take 80 guys every recruiting class. Texas really is the only school that has to cut players off their LOI lists. Heck you guys could sign your 2014 class today, and your 2015 class. That has to put an insane amount of pressure on the coaching staff. To whittle away a list of like 80 guys down to 25.
