To early to start the QB controversy in Seattle thread?

Figured I would get started before 49er fans start it....

Pretty sure Seattle went after him so SF didn't get him.

I don't know why either team will want him as a backup QB. You're in trouble if he is your backup QB

I'm not confident, but someone in a board I frequent said that teams were looking at him for QB/WR, either/and/or. Might be making it up but he ran a 4.32 40 and is tall enough. And some say he can't play QB, similar to most all WRs. ;)

They got it all wrong. They are supposed to wait for the other to cut then before signing. I guess it being a trade, not FA signing may have complicated it/confused them on how it works. ;)

I bet Seattle converts him to WR or tries. He has like 4.3-4.4 speed and is a monster in size. If he can learn to routes (A BIG IF) he could be a very big WR sleeper. Lot of scouting reports suggested he should try for WR anyway coming out of college considering him being a HUGE project at QB.

We'll see. He's got the necessary tools to play WR, whether he can translate that to play is another story. IF he does, he's every bit as dangerous as most WRs in the league (HUGE IFs here, the chance he does this has gotta be less than 10%).

If Seattle has other plans on him other than being a backup QB then it isn't a bad move but not a fan if he's really just here to be a backup QB or possibly 3rd string

There's no chance he is our backup QB. At least not #2. Third maybe, but T Jack is back and everyone is comfortable with him in that role.

Wouldn't hurt to convert him to WR and have him on staff just in case we need a guy who can also backup QB in the event Wilson goes down.

Always comPETE.
4 QBs now on the roster and 3 will be fighting for 1 or 2 spots.

Yah this too.

Gives Seattle competition at a couple positions since I still think he'll be encouraged to try WR. Either way, I don't see Jackson getting dethroned (team respects the heck out of him, and he played VERY well when Wilson was pulled from games) but Carroll's philosophy from day 1 has been compete at every level. Even when the starters are supposedly set. That's how Wilson got the job in the first place. Everyone thought (ESPN/NFL/Analysts/Fans/Rivals) Carroll was bat **** crazy for starting Wilson over Flynn.

He has some upside as a spot duty QB. He came through with some big plays at the start of the season, even won a few games. But then he and the rest of his team just fell of a cliff.

He'll never be starter, but he could be explosive enough to keep defenses honest for at least a couple games. From that point he just needs to make good decisions.

You could knock me over with a feather. Both 49ers and Seahawks were chasing him? Why? Some times I think these two teams watch each other way to much and look to get one up on the other. It gets silly at times.

well between the two teams whoever wins the division significantly increases the chance of going to the superbowl because one has homefield and the other has to play on the road the whole playoffs

SF needs a QB and Seattle needs more athletes that might be able to fill in more than one role.

Seahawks traded a 7th round pick. Seahawks pretty much traded peanuts for Pyror. 7th round isn't a bad for 3rd QB/WR/RB project or whatever. The 7th round is pretty much all projects anyway. No chance they would have got him on the waiver wire.

49ers offered a conditional 7th.
