Fwiw...i've never been there and will defer final judgement because of that, but I think something will have to change for it to work. Saw on a different VT site that Lane Stadium's field level is about 230'x400' and that Bristol's, as it stands now, would be about 600'x1120'. That is a big difference. There is also a big ass scoring tower that sits almost in the middle that would be hard to just remove and put back up after the game. Idk, what they have up their sleeves, but idk how they could just dump a football field in the middle and play a game. Would seem like they are going to have to get creative to make it work. They must have it worked out though if they are already signing the contracts.
Yeah, gonna be interesting to see how they get it setup, but I'm excited about the game.

i like the concept and doing a 1 time game like this for CFB would be a good idea. however it will be a total disaster if they dont fill up every damn seat.

it needs to be two elite teams with two large fanbases that travel well. im thinking texas-ohio state or something like that

Vols and Hokies will travel very well. Well, maybe not Tennessee as much anymore since if their seasons continue to be in the shitter. But VT has a huge fanbase and will travel.

Your Ohio State vs an elite team is laughable, Urban Meyer isn't going to schedule anything worth donkey shit.

Well, that would make us donkey shit because we are on their schedule for a home and home.

The game is in 2016, no telling how good either team will be. But I think it will be sold out no matter what.

160,000 seats? That's a tough sell out there. I'd be surprised.

The race track is 100 miles from each campus. Tennessee's stadium holds 100,000+ and sells out regularly. Virginia Tech's stadium holds 66,000+ and sells out regularly. I'm sure it will be packed. The site lines are going to suck and I hope if the series becomes a regular thing it is only played in Bristol on e in a while as a novelty but its cool for one game.

I think it'd be sold out if they had 180-200k seats to fill. I could see VT bringing 100k themselves, then Tennessee would have over a 100k. And how many people that aren't a fan of either will be there just because it's the first game at Bristol?
