We will never be a top notch SEC program again and there are two reasons why:
1. Highschool Football in the state is not as good as the other state. TN doesn't have the local resources to rely on when we fall on hard times like Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Texas A&M. TN has same problems as Arkansas, Kentucky, and the entire B1G.
2. No loyalty to UT state-wide. This is another problem and it is a factor in contributing to what few prospects TN does produce going to other states. Half the population of my state routes for other teams such as Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, etc. When I lived in Alabama, I noticed that there fans where loyal even in the dark days. That is not the case here where there are so many Bama bandwagon fans now.
Tennessee, historically was the 2nd best SEC team. I don't think that is the case anymore. As a program, we have been passed by Florida and LSU and will likely be passed by Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M in the future. All of those schools have large local fan support and are located in a region where they can depend on local talent. TN does not have these advantages.
