Agreed the team lost, not just the QB or the Defense, or the offense.

Problem is and will remain the same as it has been the past three years when it comes to this fan base.

There are the rules for our QB, then the rules for every one else. Depending one WHO the QB is at the time portions of this fan base set unrealistic expectations. I will be curious to see how forgiving some of the more adamant fans are with the current QB. Because the goal posts are already shifting closer.

One of the issues that I've always had in this era is the over emphasis on the QB position. To me he is but one of 53, no more or less important than any other. In fact if I had to take a position on them, I would say that none of them are actually any good (yep including Brady) considering the one sided rule changes that lopsidedly favor their side of the ball. In fortunately, we have to consider the time in which they play, along with those rule changes in order to rate them. We'll have to wait, but even if Smith does as well or better than Kirk, I can guarantee that I'll call him pretty good as well. No more and no less.

BTW: if he's bad, it's easy to call a skunk a skunk.

I disagree. If he is bad, I expect there will be alot of talk of how the WRs arent helping him, we dont have a run game and the defense really let him down. Alex is going to live by a different set of rules than what we had the past three years. Its already started with talk of, well if we hit 8-8 we are better off because we paid less to be in the same win range.

enlighten me how comparing the 2 from last season is "pure hate " . enlighten me how comparing both of their outlier seasons is pure hate ? . a huge stretch ? in my opinion we are heading to 6-8 wins max . and with this defense i think keenum can do it just as easily as smith can . so can bradford , bridgewater , taylor without giving up any capitol

and of course i am bashing his talent . as a number one overall draft pick he is a huge bust . now maybe your standard for a number one overall is to be an avg risk adverse qb who is steve deberg lite but mine is quite a bit higher then that . his career wreaks of game manager . he cant carry a team and he wont take a team on his back an win many games . he just wont lose them for you. that is his whole career not just last season , the aberration

good thing we paid 71 mil guaranteed for him so he can hold the position until stephen morris is ready because gruden says we might not even get a qb and doug williams was selling morris the other day

Any football fan thinks ALex Smith his a better QB than Tyrod Taylor. You are just nuts. That is hate. Its hate predicting a record when FA and the draft didn't even start yet. Once again if SMith success and wins go run and hide. You would deserve to get thrashed after all the comments you made about him.

I know you are trying to back up your previous post. That is fine. Sty asked me from someone with some coaching experience what I would do. I stand by what I said. Not everyone would do the same, if so coaches would be clones.

Borderline winning is not winning. Sounds like a coin flip to me.

True missing Kelce hurt the offense. It is still an 11 player team on offense. I won't put all the blame on Smith. The entire offense did not play well in the 2nd half.

If you want the post to be about Alex Smith. I think the Redskins took a step back at QB. coach will say Cousin's didn't want to sign. In part he is right, Cousin's did indicate he wanted to experience the FA process. Maybe the FO did the best they could THIS year based on what Cousin's said. As I have pointed out before when they had the chance to sign him a couple of years ago they blew it. They did not have the foresight to see they had a good player. That lack of foresight also cost them a DB they did not have to lose.

So back to your post. I agree it was terrible 2nd half offense. It was also terrible 2nd half defense. It was a team loss. Losing Kelce clearly hurt. KC clearly lost the 2nd half on both sides of the LOS. How many yards did Kareem Hunt have? 42.

I didn’t say borderline winning. I said borderline expectation of winning...huge difference. Simply put, if you score 21 points in an NFL game, you lose more than you win...but it is close...this borderline.

In the 2nd half, Alex Smith went back to being a total CDC. 30 yards passing.

Alex Smith is a square peg...this team is a round hole led by king asshole Bruce Allen.

Now you are "nick" picking. I know what you said. I stand by what I said. It is a fucking TEAM game.

taylor can play here and do just as well 6 wins for smith trade to be considered good he has to be in the NFC championship game this year because KC would have had us in the divisional round

I let it go elsewhere because I didn’t want to “nick” pick, but what I have posted is in support of my statements about Smith’s success requiring a superior surrounding talent...top ten run game and top ten scoring defense.

An actual “nit pick” would be me correcting your “nick pick.” The term is “nit pick,” Dean.

No offense dad, these are "huge bust". Not a #1 overall pick who has 12 NFL seasons under his belt, 3X Pro Bowl selection and has lead his team to the playoffs 5 times...there are many #1 NFL picks that have been "bust", but our new starting QB is not one of them.

Keep up the hate though.

I've never had an "over rating" of Alex Smith. He is what he is, solid middle of the road NFL QB.

Not that Skinsdad needs me to fight his battles or anything.

But I am going to ask you the same question I have asked a few others who are pimping the line of we as Redskins fans should be all in on Smith or some flavor of the same.

Where was all this Kumbaya, love thy QB and support him because he is a Redskin no matter what over the past three years??

Some of us were not fans of Smith before this trade, didnt want to see this trade happen, and dont expect him to magically become more than he is. So why does that make the man a troll?? Or does that simply point out that there were alot more trolls on the board over the past 2-3 years??

I've always supported the starting QB of the Redskins...not sure what the hell you think my opinion has been on this subject...imo, a few rogue posters on this board have sent a few of you over the cliff.

And if you have always supported the starting QB and I have mislabeled you. My Bad.

But that does not change my stance. If one thought Smith was a bad choice, and the trade was a bad trade before it happened, why does ones status as a fan get challenged because he refuses to wear the homer glasses and fall in line??

Exactly. My disgust for this trade has literally nothing to do with Kirk Cousins.

I think it was a horrible trade because we gave up a young star corner with two years of rookie contract remaining and a third round pick for a guy we know is not going to win a SB with us to keep us competitive while him not fitting the system and the surrounding talent, when we could have remained competitive without giving up youth, and an exorbitant contract to a guy that just doesn’t deserve it.

that we gave up a starting cb and a 3rd rounder for and will pay 71 mil guaranteed . sorry but i was on record long before (talking with KBOS i believe ) stating trading for him was a bad idea when we can simply sign a FA

now you dont post here often and by your retorts you dont read much here either . perhaps you should go back 3 years and read the BS on KC from game threads to everything else dissecting every move and word he made and then perhaps you will have an inkling of whats going on

you dont trade for solid , middle of the road , and call it wonderful
