It's interesting that you chose to compare him to one of the more overrated QBs ever.

I'm not a fan of Tebow. I state my opinion of him, including the good and the bad, unlike some others who can't admit he has any ability at all. Elway is in the HOF so I guess perception is important in the mind of the voters. Fans have a perception of Tebow too...maybe the haters are wrong but time will tell one way or the other.

John Elway 1983-1992:

TDs per year: 7, 18, 22,19,19,17,18,15,13,10 = 158 Tds Total

Ints per year: 14,15,23,13,12,19,18,14,12,17 = 157 Ints Total

You can't get much more mediocre than that over ten consecutive years.

Again for comparison...Tebow: 17 Tds and 9 Ints in his first two years.

Elway displayed very good leadership qualities as the "field general" and carries a commanding presence, even today. Elway earned respect the old fashioned way. Elway exceeded at the "intangibles" of the game.

Tebow had that in college but he has a long way to go to get it in the pros. He hasn't earned the respect of the Pats fans and the doubters. He will "wear a shiner" until he earns their respect, if he ever does.

I watched Elways whole carreer. I didn't get it. He was highly overrated, even back then. He had an extended time of people talking about his arm and how great he was but the results did not match. late in his career he had a great SB performance and everybody annointed him as having been this great all along. I just didn't see it.

Elway had all the necessary intangibles even if he didn't have stellar talent. Not many retired players could say that they had all the intangibles needed to be successful.

The results of intangibles reflect on the scoreboard and on the field but they never show up in the stats. You cannot realize how great Elway was by looking at stats. You'll miss everything that made him great.

When you look at Elway you should take into consideration what he's supposedly known for and that has to be 4th qtr comebacks. From the stats I saw, he's had 35 in his career and "4th qtr comebacks" is a good way of saying his play through three quarters put his team in position to lose.

That's also one of the points about Tebow in Bruschi's post.

what you just said also reminds me of Eli Manning, Tebow gets a bad rap because he isnt' your typical pocket passer and never will be and people can't handle that especially in today's FF era.
