I added which NHL team owns their rights or their draft status. The guys with "??????" I believe are undrafted despite having been eligible in last years draft but I'm not positive about them.

Also the honorary Team QMJHL captain will be Penguins' prospect Alex Grant who was severely injured during the rookie tournament last month.

Team QMJHL Roster:

Goaltenders:
Jean-Francois Bérubé, Montreal Juniors* - L.A. Kings
Maxime Clermont, Gatineau Olympiques** - New Jersey Devils
Olivier Roy, Acadie-Bathurst Titan - Edmonton Oilers

Defencemen:
Nathan Beaulieu, Saint John Sea Dogs - Eligible for 2011 NHL Draft
Nicolas Deslauriers, Gatineau Olympiques - L.A. Kings
Simon Després, Saint John Sea Dogs - Pittsbugh Penguins
Jérome Gauthier-Leduc, Rimouski Oceanic - Buffalo Sabres
Brandon Gormley, Moncton Wildcats - Phoenix Coyotes
Ryan Kavanagh, Rimouski Oceanic* - ????????
Jean-Philippe Mathieu, Drummondville Voltigeurs** - ??????
Xavier Ouellet, Montreal Juniors - Eligible for 2011 NHL Draft
Charles-Olivier Roussel, Montreal Juniors - Nashville Predators

Forwards :
Guillaume Asselin, Chicoutimi Sagueneens - ??????
Louis-Marc Aubry, Montreal Juniors - Detroit Red Wings
Michael Bournival, Shawinigan Cataractes - Colorado Avalanche
Jonathan Brunelle, Drummondville Voltigeurs** - Undrafted in 2010
Sean Couturier, Drummondville Voltigeurs - Eligible for 2011 NHL Draft (potential #1 overall)
Jonathan Huberdeau, Saint John Sea Dogs - Eligible for 2011 NHL Draft
Brandon Hynes, Victoriaville Tigres - ???????
Louis Leblanc, Montreal Juniors - Montreal Canadiens
Philippe Lefebvre, Montreal Juniors* - Montreal Canadiens
Jonathan Lessard, Acadie-Bathurst Titan - ???????
Philippe Paradis, PEI Rocket - Chicago Blackhakws

The best part of this (thanks for the post julian) is that this means the WJHC is right around the corner. There's a certain trophy that will be contested for in Buffalo that needs to make its way back to Canada.

Yup. This is basically a tryout for a lot of these guys for the World Juniors. In recent years the Q has been the weak link of the 3 leagues, both in terms of drafted players and World Junior players, but this season is supposed to be "The year of the Q" so we'll see what happens. I suspect the other 2 leagues will announce their rosters soon as well as the Russian Team.

I was just going to say that there's a few guys that really standout on the 'Q' team (Olivier Roy, Simon Després, Brandon Gormley, Sean Couturier, and Louis LeBlanc). This will hopefully keep the Quebec MP's quiet as well if some if not all of the guys above make the Canadian World Junior Team.

Yeah I think all of those guys have a really good chance. The good news for Couturier is that he has the option of playing for Team USA as well since he was born in the hockey hotbed of Phoeniz AZ. I'm pretty sure his heart belongs to Canada though since that's where he grew up, split between Quebec and New Brunswick.

My sources tell me the trophy prefers American soil. :)

It's been awhile since the Memorial Cup went East too. You gotta figure that'll change soon.

Yes I'm hoping that ends in the next year or 2. Of course if my boys aren't the ones representing the Q then I might change my mind about this. I was very happy to see the last Q reps go 0-3 at the Memorial Cup this past May. :D

i have really high hopes for clermont... he's got a reputation far higher than that of your normal 6th round goalie pick

hope he plays a bit

I'm guessing he'll play half of game 2. Of the 3 goalies only Olivier Roy is supposed to play in both games 1 and 2. So he'll probably play half of each with each of the other 2 goalies getting their chance to play half a game.

I doubt it, not in the United States anyway. I'm not a huge fan of the Subway series TBQH, Russia always sends scrub players over. The best things about these games is that it gives the US a chance to scout guys who'll be playing for Canada at the World Juniors.

Simon Despres and Louis Leblanc will both be out of the lineup for tonight's game due to minor injuries. Too bad for Simon as he would have been playing in front of his hometown fans for this one.

Who's the better forward Couturier or Nugent-Hopkins?

Nugent-Hopkins is a pretty good playmaker (although he sniped a couple of goals this past weekend), I haven't seen enough of Couturier to make a judgement.

The Isles are going to have a tough decision to make. That is if they're still deadlast after the lottery. Watch they'll take Adam Larsson.

Its the other way around for me. I'm not too familiar with N-H but somewhat familiar with Couturier. I don't actually get to see him play too much but I'm familiar with his stats and accomplishments. The thing about Couturier is that he not only led the Q in scoring last season as a 16/17 year old and is currently leading this season (still 17 but turns 18 halfway through the season) but he's also a great defensive foward as well. He's known for being able to shut down the other teams top lines. Also Drummonville traded away a lot of assets to go for a Memorial Cup run in 08-09, typically that means they would go into a rebuilding phase for a season or 2 but thanks to Couturier they've managed to remain as 1 of the elite teams in the Q in 09-10 and thus far in 10-11.

I remember some so called experts saying after last year Couturier would be trade bait come the deadline this year. Do you think they'll keep him or trade him?

Hard to say at this point. Drummondville is near the top of the league standings in points but have played more games than a lot of teams. If they are still looking like contenders by the time the Christmas trade period arrives, they'll probably keep him and load up for another run and put themselves in position to suck next year and start the rebuilding process as there is a good chance Couturier will be in the NHL next year. If they don't see themselves as serious contenders they likely will trade him because he would fetch a very nice return from a contending team and that will help their rebuild and could even make them strong contenders next year.
