This is the TSN guys roster. No Jumbo, Nash, E. Staal. I actually don't see Nash or Staal making it. They're not doing enough to make it right now.

No Iggy this year (too slow for the big ice and we need younger guys anyway), but I really think Crosby will wear the 'C' for Canada.

/I think with so many NHL captains on this team, the emphasis of who wears the 'C' is greatly reduced.

I agree. When the room is filled with 'em, it's just a letter. Funny enough, depending on the roster, he may be the longest tenured Captain in the room. Which is weird. Because that would make him old. DON'T GROW OLD SIDNEY.

Agreed I don't think those guys have done enough

And I'm surprised Matt Duchene is one of the extra forwards - I don't think there's any question, imo, that he should be in the top 12 somehow

I'd probably slot him in the lineup ahead of Jaime Benn or Couture. And I freaking love Jaime Benn. Gah. What a nice probably to have.

I'd personally have Toews as captain but I'd bet on Crosby wearing the C with Toews getting an A.

I'm going to make educated guesses on CDN Olympic team roster. Not who I think should be there, simply who I think will be named.

Goal: Price, Luongo, Smith.

LD: Keith, Bouwmeester, Vlasic, Hamhuis. RD: Doughty, Weber, Pietrangelo, Subban.

C: Crosby, Toews, Tavares, Getzlaf, Bergeron.

LW: Couture, Benn, Duchene, Sharp.

RW: Stamkos, Giroux, Nash, Perry, St. Louis.

Blob's educated guesses. Centers I agree with, and D. Couture, Benn, Nash, and St. Louis are a bit more of a "hmmm". I really don't think Nash deserves to be there.

I would replace Rick Nash with Jeff Carter - Jeff Carter has had a better season plus he can play center as well, if needed

I don't think I'd take Nash either, but his inability to play centre probably isn't going to be a factor. This team is going to have tons of guys that can play centre in a pinch.

Dare I ask how you've managed to experience and evaluate the leadership abilities of either?

My opinion of Crosby is definitely biased. I am basing my opinion on an article that was on tsn late year about the leagues best captains from the analysts standpoint. They supposedly factored in teammates opinions, coaches league wide, league executives and possibly most importantly referees and Toews was top 3 behind Alfie and I believe Chara. If I remember correctly Crosby was 8 or 9 on that list. Toews is an incredible on ice leader and has a dimension that I don't see I'm Crosby when he's playing. I'm not taking away from crosbys talent, I just don't think it's a prudent move to put the C on a guy who's known to complain for calls constantly compared to Toews who rarely (by comparison) talks to refs but when he does gets results.

Also to clarify my comment about Thornton I just want he's too slow for the big ice and canada has a lot of better options at this point since jumbo joe would prob be a 4th liner with no pp time. Damn it must be nice to be Canada with all that talent to chose from. This is all just my opinion.

Toews complains just as much...because he's a captain. Trust me, he's chirpy.

If Canada doesn't win gold it will be a massive catastrophe. They're going to be more talented at every roster position, other than goalie, than every other team. (ie, 1C, 2LW, 3RD,etc)

Was the same in 2010...and the Americans came dang close. I think a big reason the American roster looks like it does, is to matchup with Canada.

Also, if Luo is hurt...whose the next man up? I assume it'd be Price's net...right?

It scares me when I see Steve Yzerman talking to Kevin Lowe at Rexall Place last night - Methinks Klown is campaigning for Taylor Hall to be on Team Canada.

Yeah...not sure how he deserves a spot either. I know you have to look at overall talent/abilities in addition to what they've done in the NHL, but man, when I look at him, and Nash especially, I don't see how they would earn spots.
