Seems like a pretty good deal for both sides.

Tavares is right on the cusp of being a top-line player in my opinion and I think he started to realize that fact last season.

Happy for ya! Maybe 'ol Auto was off a year when I said you guys were gonna make the playoffs last year?

The Islanders have a nice team, IMO.

Hamonic is one of my favourite young D-men. I love their speed (Grabner ,etc.), skill (JT and others) and grit (Okposo) up front. They have some quality prospects coming along too.

The only thing that is keeping (potentially) them from being a perennial contender is between the pipes. If that gets addressed they are a good bet to make the playoffs this year.

I think the Pittsburgh fiasco really helped them grow as a team. Still not condoning any of that, but they played some good hockey for a stretch after that.

Last night Anders Nilsson in his first game in North America made 38 saves leading the Baby Isles to a 7-2 win over the Baby Bruins.

Kevin Poulin & Nilsson will probably spend the season in Bridgeport. Next season I expect one of them to be the starting goalie for the Islanders. In fact I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Poulin & Nilsson are the Isles tandem next year.

A little bit high for what I think he is right now, but I bet it'll be dirt cheap in year 6. Just don't let him anywhere near DiPietro's trainer.
