I hope we are in position to draft Trevor Lawrence or Draft Penei Sewell and Sign Dak Prescott if the Cowboys are stupid enough to let him hit free agency

We go sewell if we find a qb in FA .. if not you take Lawerance or Lance then spend money on Oline in FA .. OC turner should be fired and maybe look for a better Oline coach

Minnesota and Cousin's have started so poorly. Would it not be funny if they finished worse than the Redskins, drafted a top QB and cut Cousins. That would be par for the course.

Sportster-

Thoughts on Justin Fields or Trey Lance?

I am a college football fan but have not seen either play. I am guessing both of those could be choices but RR could focus on a trade for a vet instead of targeting a rookie QB. You draft Lawrence at #1 obviously but if we have #2 or #3, either one of those should be an option.

Does anyone have any intel on either Fields or Lance?

Found these:

Fields:

Lance:

They seem to be RPO QBs which is concerning to me personally. For every Lamar Jackson, there are 10 other who do not work out. I am gun shy on drafting another OSU QB. I think they are system QBs as I am not sure we have had any recent OSU QBs make it.

Lance dominated inferior competition and did not throw 1 pick. His deep ball is almost perfect but he appears to like to run. This will lead to injuries unless he goes the Russell Wilson route and runs SMART.

Thoughts on these QBs?

Can't say I've seen either Fields or Lance play, but, and I'm asking cuz I don't really know, but from what I've seen/remember, Ohio St QBs rarely if ever work out in the pros. I'm trying to think of a good/great pro QB who came outta OSU and the only name popping into my head is Art Schlichter. And that certainly isn't due to his play in the NFL.

I agree...the list goes on and on. Terrell Pryor, Joe Germain, Troy Smith, Braxton Miller, JT Barrett....

Not sure RR wants to rely on a rookie either. I am guessing he wants to go with a veteran.

I almost think we sign Dak Prescott and make him the highest paid QB. I do not know..I believe Prescott is a special talent but that IMO. I believe Prescott can be tagged again.

I don't think Dak will go for another tag again it will be either sign me longterm or let me hit free agency

I like Dak as well and think he's improved pretty much every year he's been a pro. The problem with signing Dak though as I see it is A) Not sure we have enough talent as is and even with next year's draft, to put around him B) Wouldn't making him the highest paid player (a straight up tried n true Snyder move) seriously impede our ability to add other necessary pieces via FA? Cuz lets face it. Building strictly through the draft takes hitting big on several picks, at least 4, maybe 5 a couple years in a row. Which I'd be all for, I just don't have confidence we can do it. Especially if Snyder has to put his non-football fingers all up in the draft pie again.

Trey Lance has about 16 starts with a small school team and will have played once this year .
Based on that you have to believe he will have to be groomed and you would need patience to develop him .

Now right now you say you will do it but when the bullets start to fly you will abandon him .

Fields is a guy who could have 28 starts but he couldn’t beat out the bills 3rd stringer at GA I don’t think O:SU ‘s offense is sophisticated enough to train qbs for the nfl and hence you would have to be patient with his development which the IPMF ers have shown they can’t do

This rebuild just fell a year behind because our qbs failed (can’t be helped ) so the solution will be to fire another coach . Start our 33 and 34th qbs since Snyder came over and complain about stability , drama , and how shitty our FO is but yet advocate the same shit they actually do

The Cowboys could say no and opt to make him sit out a season. Which might be especially difficult for Dak given he'll be itching to get back to playing after missing 75% of this season.

That's a possibility. Again though. Our present talent level even with next year's draft might not be enough to put around Cam who if he has a pretty decent, good or great year. Will want a boatload of cash. Once again limiting our ability to sign other FAs. If that's the route we take. I'd rather go with Dak over Cam.

Dak would be first choice followed by Cam, then Matt Ryan

A trade would be for Darnold

I think we need to do what Gibbs did and bring in a vet (Brunnell) or trade for Darnold. I think Darnold can be a solid QB. Lance and Fields appear to be RPO QBs which most of the time does not translate well in the NFL. I agree in that the lack of experience concerns me.

Dak is a special player and I think we could use the bulk of our early picks to protect and give him playmakers.
I would go:
Dak
Darnold
Ryan
