I like Dak as well and think he's improved pretty much every year he's been a pro. The problem with signing Dak though as I see it is A) Not sure we have enough talent as is and even with next year's draft, to put around him B) Wouldn't making him the highest paid player (a straight up tried n true Snyder move) seriously impede our ability to add other necessary pieces via FA? Cuz lets face it. Building strictly through the draft takes hitting big on several picks, at least 4, maybe 5 a couple years in a row. Which I'd be all for, I just don't have confidence we can do it. Especially if Snyder has to put his non-football fingers all up in the draft pie again.

Good point but money talks. Harmon comes back and this is what I would do:
1st Rd: LT
2nd Rd: TE
3rd: WR or RB
3rd: Guard

B) Wouldn't making him the highest paid player (a straight up tried n true Snyder move) seriously impede our ability to add other necessary pieces via FA? Cuz lets face it.
Possibly. If we let Smith go that opens up some cap room.

True about it all starting with the QB. Your draft selection isn't bad either. Though from what I've seen far as college the last few years. Good to great pass catching TEs seem to be in abundance. So I might target a WR or a RB in the 2nd and with that 1st 3rd n look for a TE in 2nd 3rd. Though it doesn't make a whole lotta difference. If we could hit on 4 draft picks. I wouldn't care where they were drafted. I know you're not high on RR picking the draft, but of even more importance imo is keeping Snyder out of the draft room. If Snyder somehow managed to make a player for player trade for Mahomes. I'd be hesitant to pull the trigger on that move.

Uh huh. Cards 21/Cowboys 0 after a lovely 80 yd TD pass from Murray to Kirk. I can see some posters having visions of the 2020 NFC East Champions, Your 6-10 Washington Football Team dancing around in their heads now.

Sportster-

Thoughts on Justin Fields or Trey Lance?

I am a college football fan but have not seen either play. I am guessing both of those could be choices but RR could focus on a trade for a vet instead of targeting a rookie QB. You draft Lawrence at #1 obviously but if we have #2 or #3, either one of those should be an option.

Does anyone have any intel on either Fields or Lance?
I have not seen either one play much. Fields a little and Lance not at all. I just watched the videos you put up. They are both RPO QBs. (side note, Fields committed to Penn State, change and went to Georgia and left there for Ohio State)

breed is right. The two most famous OSU QBs I can think of are Schlicter for gambling and Herbstreit for announcing. Fields could not beat out Fromm. Of course Burrow couldn't beat out Haskins and which one looks better ... so far. I know, it is early.

Lance makes me think of Wentz because of the same school, same competition. Wentz looked like a star ... for a year. He has been mediocre at best since.

The highlight films duke posted show some good stuff. How many WRs are going to be open by 5 or more yards in the NFL ... unless they are playing against the WTF. Most of Fields throws were to WIDE open guys but about 5 were tight throws. I sort of like him but like breed said ...... OSU

Fields reminds me some of Dak, good arm, can throw the deep ball better than Haskins. I think he can move around in the NFL but not like Lamar. Enough to put pressure on the D or to escape. Then too there is only one Lamar. The WTF might be in play for Fields. I sort of like him but like breed said ...... OSU

I would also look at:
Jamie Newman - Georgia
Kyle Trask - Florida
Sam Ehlinger - Texas
Zack Wilson - BYU

That lets you draft your tackle and get a QB in rounds 2-4.

JMO

Say no to Cam - he is near the bottom of the league in QB rating and Matt Ryan is 35.

we arent trying to build a team here , we are taking short cuts for flash in the pan glory . i would trade a 2nd for darnold draft a LT ot TE in round one and take 2 of the highest rated guys in round 3

i might consider trading my 1st and seconds for strictly 3rd rounders because the last 2 are tmac and AG :D

Why exactly is Darnold’s name coming up?

2018- 4 wins
2019- 4 wins
2020- won’t win a single game

I really like these ideas for QB in rounds 2-4. And how you laid out all the points. I’m on board with your draft ideas :)

If I am drafting a qb that isn’t Lawrence then I wait for round 2 on
Makes sense. Can’t count on first round QBs unless they are generational players.
