Looks like the Times is getting set to start charging to read their articles. Which sucks and just like ESPN Insider, the Daily Herald, and the Trib, ain't no way no how I'm paying for any of that shit. There are other local websites still free. I know with the Trib, they let you check out something like 5 stories per month at no charge. Not sure about the Herald. Maybe the Sun Times will do the same. Bastards, all of them.

Anyway, while it can still be done, here is a nice article from the Sun Times regarding the pre-draft issues with the Bears, along with other tidbits.

There seems to be a growing consensus in the local media that pass rush is our single biggest need, Nelson notwithstanding, and that we will be taking a WR with our 2nd pick. Couldn't disagree more with the latter, but then again, that's why I'm sitting on my ass at home in front of a puter.

Pace did his pre-draft presser today. Obviously, playing things close to the chest. However, he did double down on the Meredith decision (first question asked) and further implied that the medical aspect of it played a big role. "We trust our doctors" - "We trust our training staff"

That just had to be the reason because the price of the contract sure as hell was not a hindrance. We'll just have to wait and see how Meredith fares this year. If he has a good, productive season, Pace is going to look like a fool. If he struggles or re-injures his knee, Pace will look like a genius.
