Might want to pump the brakes a little. It's summer league. It's not even the NBA exhibition season.

Most of the guys he's doing this against will be playing overseas, in the G-league or holding down the end of some teams bench.

Don't get me wrong...you'd rather he be tearing it up than sucking...but you also have to consider the competition...It's not like he's seeing KD, AD or Giannis.
Yep. Read something recently about some Piston pick who was the top player in Summer League maybe 5 or so years ago and is not in the NBA anymore.

any idea of the name @Stakesarehigh ?

Sure I get it . But still he's the 51st pick and he's easily been one of the 3 best rookies at summer league. Maybe the best
No doubt you'd rather see him play well than not.

It's funny to see the wide array of talent levels on these summer league teams. Some have multiple first rounders and lottery picks, others have no drafted players whatsoever (like the Lakers team this year).

Nobody on the Lakers team has really wowed me overall. Their best player may be Trevelin Queen (what a name, lol). The guys under contract (Reaves, Ajayi, Brown, McClung) had their moments too. As a Syracuse fan, I wish Griffin would've seen more minutes; oh well. One last game tonight at 7pm PST vs the Warriors.

Most of the guys he is playing against we’re in college last year.

Not shocking at all that he is playing well now.

How so ?? 21 and 15 in 26 minutes again last night

Best 36 per in points abd rebounds for all rookies in summer league

I thought I was being cautious saying top 3 when it's pretty obvious he was the best rookie there

Ok. Best performance at summer camp then

Granted, this isn’t everything…

But I just googled “best rookies in summer league”

First thing I found was an article by SB nation ranking the top 13 and giving about 7 or 8 honorable mentions.

Garza was not even mentioned.

And yeah, they had some 2nd rounders too.

Eh

Getting 20 deep and not mentioning him seems a bit ridiculous.

Pistons won both games Cade didn't play in largely on him and the G Town rookie

Yes, I agree. He should have been mentioned.

But…

He is trying to say Garza has been arguably the best rookie in summer league as if it proves him right for calling Garza a huge steal.

Just not the case.

Why wasn’t he drafted earlier?

It isn’t because scouts don’t think he can be a productive offensive player.

Boban has had a per 36 numbers not too far off that for his entire NBA career and he has averaged under 10 minutes a game and gets DNPs.

Why?

Because he can’t defend modern offense.

We shall see. His D has been quite good this summer but that isn't the NBA

I'm not saying he's going to be an ALL Star but he's been the best rookie in summer league this year

Ultimately that doesn't mean much other than it gets him a contract BUT it's still reality

He hasn’t been the best rookie though.

That is the point.

He has posted some very nice offensive stats.

Lol ok dude.

You're too hooked on the stats.

Russell Westbrook has averaged a triple double in something like 4 of his last 5 or 6 seasons. Since Oscar Robertson, no one else in NBA history has done it even once. Not MJ, not Kobe, Not Magic or Bird, not Lebron.

I guess that means that Russel Westbrook is better than all of them?
