The Steelers are 7-0 in the postseason when Roethlisberger throws for fewer than 225 yards. They're 0-3 when he throws for more than 300 yards.

Sure, tends to happen, higher passing yardage, when you're losing a game.

Yeah I could see that in small samples, but damn that's a trend

A lot of those postseason wins came back when he had top 1-2 defense in the league... His 1st trip to the playoffs when they won the SB back in '05 he had some very pedestrian numbers

Game 1 @CIN... 14/19 for 208yds, 3 TDs
Game 2 @IND... 14/24 for 197yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Game 3 @DEN... 21/29 for 275yds, 2 TDs
Game 4 vs SEA in the SB... 9/21 for 123yds, 2 INTs

Yeah, I love me some Ben, I just couldn't believe it

Goes to show how misleading it could be to hang all wins or losses on the QB alone

Small point Face but Ben didn't win the SB after his 1st trip to the playoffs after the '04 season (rookie year). The SB year was his second trip to the playoffs.

Its all matchups.

The Chiefs had a great red zone D and an elite turnover differential. Pitt tested that once, got an INT and figured that they would go back to their #1(or #2) rush game vs KC's super awful run defense.

The previous year they lost against the Broncos when the Broncos run D was dominant but Ben had a 9.2YPA against the best defense in the league. IIRC the Steelers basically lost the game because of a turnover.

I got Ben going for 218 on Sunday. Pats fans, you know what that means right?

Thanks for the correction, you are correct... I full well remembered the 15-1 season but didn't think the stats that year in the postseason were as important as the full run to the SB. Got ahead of myself :thumb:

I might be able to top that "strangest fact" ... Quarterbacks/teams who have big leads run the ball more ... Teams behind throw.

The Detroit Lions have won one (1) playoff game in 59 years ... is there any team that comes close to that?

or, they throw more if they have a marginal running game - see Green Bay Packers

"Ben, we need you to suck today"

They need that running game to take over then. I think most of those stats came from when the defense was dominant and he wasn't that great. Later he became great and the defense struggled so he put up big numbers.

The big thing for this game is the only decent QB that the Pats played this season in RW tore them a new one. Ben is the best QB they've faced this year with the best running game they faced this year. I want the Pats to win but IDK if they have enough.

Tim Tebow is undefeated against Ben Roethlisberger in the playoffs.
