A couple good excerpts:

"The final option is for the Lakers to convince Bryant to waive his no-trade clause and let the team trade him. If Bryant can show over the next month or so that he’s healthy, several teams that are trying to compete for titles could show interest.
A reunion with Phil Jackson in New York would be especially possible, and a trade that netted the Lakers young players like Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. along with a 2015 first-round pick and a big expiring salary like Amar’e Stoudemire‘s or Andrea Bargnani‘s could meet the Lakers’ needs."

"Their draft situation isn’t too shabby either. The Lakers currently owe a first-round lottery protected pick to the Houston Rockets, are owed a second-round top-40 protected pick from Orlando, in addition to a first-round lottery protected pick in 2015 from the Houston Rockets."

The Lakers will lose money if they trade him . And ultimately they do not want to do that. They could never get enough of a return for him money wise, asset wise i dont think it would be worth it either. Lastly, the Lakers are not the type of team that needs to draft to contend. 2015 marks the free agency of Lamarcus Aldridge and Marc Gasol. And i know the Lakers can get one, if not both of these players.

I'd boycott Jim Buss' Lakers. I don't think anyone other than the media is pitching this. They are trolling Lakers fans yet again.

The Lakers need to take aim at Kawhi Leonard and Asik... Over pay Leonard if need be and make sure you pay enough to get Asik even if you over pay him... If Randle is the future these 2 guys can make a swing at it with Kobe and still be prime when Randle is ready...

I'd rather overpay Monroe.

I think the next viable FA guy the Lakers will go after is Marc Gasol despite what Pau is suggesting which is Marc should go to the Knicks.

If Randle is indeed our future we need a good to great defender behind him, Monroe isn't good enough... Marc would be great but I don't think he'll come because of Pau... IMO

I think they need to go after marc gasol and Lamarcus aldridge and when Durant becomes a free agent make a run at him. The first 2 i really think they can get to sign for the Lakers and thats for Next year! This could set them up to have Marc gasol, Lamarcus aldridge, Julius randle (big) Nick Young (small), Kobe Bryant, Lots of potentials for PG for next year including Rajon Rondo, Rodney stucky, Norris Cole, Jeremy Lin, Reggie Jackson, Brandon Knight. All you really need at point is someone who can structure the offense.

Other potential free agents include Kevin Garnett, Derrick Williams, Louis Scola, Deandre Jordan, Samuel Dalembert and the list goes on and on. Mind you lots of these guys have no chance at signing and i event mentioned some we would never need but the Lakers do indeed have options for free agents in this upcoming offseason, and add to the fact if they suck as bad as their current record indicates going into a possible lottery pick....

I mean there are options.

Keep Kobe, it dont make sense to let him go. We could even see some of these guys currently on the team shipped out to open up roster spots. There are plenty of options. Kobe did not resign without seeing the future. The salary cap goes up after next season as well. The Lakers could even go over the cap next season and it would only be for a season and im sure they would bite that bullet if need be.

I don't see the Lakers trading Kobe. I think this year is about showing promise in the both the short and long term.

In the short term, I think it's going to be about showing potential FA's that Kobe can still play at a high level and they don't need to worry about waiting for "an old, broken down Kobe" to finally retire before being able to contend for a title.

I also think it's about showing that the Lakers have some viable young players who can be around for the long term.

Besides, as I've said before, I don't really see a scenario where Kobe would be enticed to waive his no trade clause. Kobe wants another ring. A team that is/can be a contender would have to give up too much of what makes them contenders.

Kobe isn't going anywhere. That was article was pure speculation.

I'd offer Kawhi a big contract right at the start of free agency. Put the Spurs on the clock. I don't think he can be counted on as a #1 scorer. Strong wing defender though and proven he can get it done when it counts. I like his game.

Kawhi isn't going anywhere. He is the future of the Spurs, they have complete control over him.

I know most of you will disagree with me, but I think trading Kobe would be the best move for the Lakers in the long term. We went through the exact same situation with Nash and at the time I was the same way as you guys.

I laughed off trade rumors and was convinced he'd retire in Phoenix. He was still playing good ball in his last year with us. But to be honest, trading him helped us rebuild as quickly as we did. If we hadn't traded him, we would be in a horrible position right now. LA needs young talent and to completely rebuild just like Phoenix did and if they get lucky, make some good picks and hit a FA or two then they could be back in business in 2-3 years. It was only a 2 year rebuild for PHX after trading away Nash, Gortat, etc.

If you get a quality asset or two and some picks for Kobe then you gotta pull the trigger.

I suggested that back in the summer Arizona but it wasn't taken to seriously and I think the writers are fueling this speculation. Like I have stated, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens and there is some truth to your post.

You never know. A scenario similar to Parsons could happen. Unlikely but not out of the realm of possibilities.
