Been a good week for the Diehard predicting SOTG's. Gotta keep it going. So, today we have Neise--sounds like a Kleenex brand doesn't it? Well, so far this year he has been used like a Kleenex by opposing hitters. Righthanded batters have clubed 4HR, batting .293, and had 44 hits in 37 innings. That being said, I gotta go with DAT DUDE today for the SOTG.

Well the Mets can't score runs so if they have any chance of winning we need to see the Dr. Jekyll side of Niese and not Mr. Hyde. He's either borderline unhittable or gets rocked.

So Choo seems to constantly be thrown out there as a target the Mets should go after this offseason since they desperately need outfielders. What are the odds you guys re sign him and do you see his game really suffering with age or do you think he can be productive into his mid 30s?

I don't see you guys getting him...period. And yes I see him going strong into his 30's...alot like Votto...hard guy to strike out, great around the plate. :2cents:

You never know, about signing a guy, or what can happen years down the road. The two are related when determining how much you are wiling to gamble on signing a player. In comparison to large market teams, especially ones with low payroll, the Reds probably don't have the money or ability to recover if Choo was injured or ineffective but still owed $80 million.

Im sure the Reds would love to keep Choo, but they are at the highest payroll in club history now, and I assume Choo will be worth upwards of $15 mil/yr and will want/get 4 years or more in a competitive free agent contract. I also don't believe the Reds can sustain a payroll much over $100 mil/yr. Between clubs with more income, and lower payroll teams without many premium paid players, I'd say if the most money gets Choo, it won't be the Reds that win Choo.

I am lobbying hard for Leake to get it tonight. Nobody else actually did much, unless an E5 counts.

When did Mesoraco hit the solo HR ? Would Leake have won 1-0 or just got a no decision without Fraziers rocket thru the wickets e-5, 2 run early lead getter ? Lol2x...When in doubt, I'd never argue giving it to the no run SP...but who did they interview ? What would Joe Nuxhall do ?

Then Leake won because they bad guys can't catch the ball, right ? Hey, I'll take them anyway we can, but were going to run out of inferior competition one day... and it concerns me "winning" by errors and bases loaded walks against teams that might win 60 games, while contributing 1 run of our own doing. It still sounds like a magic act or a congressional budget that the Reds lead the NL in runs.

Some games, there isn't a standout performance. Leake pitched well enough to win.
