University of Michigan News Service | U-Michigan to receive $200 million from prominent real estate developer Stephen M. Ross

ANN ARBOR—Real estate developer and alumnus Stephen M. Ross will give $200 million to the University of Michigan to significantly transform the student experience at the business school and athletic campus. Ross' gift is the largest single donation in U-M history and makes him the biggest donor to his alma mater with lifetime giving of more than $313 million. The Stephen M. Ross School of Business and U-M Athletics will each receive $100 million.

That's some spending cash right there. His total donations make him one of the single largest donors to any University ever.

I hope Stephen Ross, a native Detroiter, also gives some money to Wayne State University (my alma mater)...Ross received his law degree from Wayne State in Detroit. WSU is currently building a new baseball stadium, Ernie Harwell Field, and it would be cool if Ross helps out with that project.

Yes, there's the ross academic center and the ross business school but now they're naming the entire athletic campus after him as well, probably among a few other things.

Exactly...given that Michigan grad and Google co-founder & CEO Larry Page has a net worth of $23 billion compared with $5 billion for Stephen Ross. Page certainly can afford to put up some dough towards the massive $350 million Michigan Olympic/non-revenue athletic facilities project. I'm sure Michigan AD Dave Brandon has Larry Page's phone #.
