Not exactly thrilled after hearing that Cortez is still "in the plans". Thought he was headed toward the chop block, and rightfully so. Kid is getting paid a ridiculous amount of money to gather dust on the pine.

Looks like they are heavily invested into finding a CB 1st or 2nd round depending on BPA. I'd like to see them go D-Line, S, and then CB, but I'd be happey with D-Line, CB, S. Only reason I don't want a CB in the 1st round is because I doubt he would be a starter day 1. But the argument can also be made that a D-lineman wouldn't see the field much either.

Well, I especially like that last Colbert tweet, hopefully he's not bs'ing about this being a defensive draft. Can only pray that he's bluffing with his comments about Allen, becaus that dude has got to go. I'd be very happy if we could get william jackson of Houston

Same here. It was expected, even prior to FA. The offense has been humming so there's no reason to invest more into it. I took O-line off the draft board needs last week. Having Foster & Harris on board for the next few years eliminated that. But they might still find a return specialist at either the RB or WR spot.

WJ3... I don't know enough about the kid, nor have I watched him much. But I've heard great things. I'm a little jaded towards this years draft as I don't feel as strongly about many prospects that I usually am at this time during the offseason. Last year I was all aboard the Marcus Peters train, even dabbled with Kevin Johnson. This year I'm not crazy about any DB's outside of Ramsey in the 1st round (which we have zero chance to land). I like Apple, WJ3 & a few safeties, but not exactly thrilled about taking them @25 overall.

Makes me think like wr/te round 1
What part of "Colbert said that team went offense in free agency so they can hammer defense through a defensive draft" did you not understand? lol :heh:

He's owed four and a half million in salary this season. If they have him in the plans, that cat better take a paycut down to min, at least for the upcoming season. He sure hasn't earned his money the last two years.

I think this a good smoke screen...if they had already put it C.Allen's fate out there, it might tip their hand on a draft pick.

Right now...my pool is starting to take shape at 25, but I will keep it on spreadsheet for now.

Colbert...I'm starting to doubt Apple will be there now, but if he or WJ3 are there, he has to have them in the BPA conversation. DL...there will be a starting caliber DT on the board...idk whether he will be the fit they're looking for.

He's been asked for a paycut...Idk his response, but I get the sense they're just keeping him in the fold to provide some cammo.

I vastly prefer William Jackson to Apple.

Jackson deserves to be in the 1st round. Apple doesn't belong there. If he gets taken before us, that pushes talent down. So, good.

If William Jackson isn't there. I dip into the Safety pot. Karl Joseph or Keanu Neal.

I don't have a strong enough opinion of either, but post combine/pro day...Apple seems to be rising...maybe a little faster than expected.

If I heard you right...if Jackson 3 is not there @ 25 you would go S?

I've seen a little bit of Neal...none of Joesph...I saw one mock with 2 S going in the top 32....Ramsey and Neal...there should be equal S talent available I think at 58. TJ Green is a prospect that should be on the board even later.

Allen has to be a smoke screen...if the online sites are close to being right...the Steelers are pretty close to the edge of the cap....currently not showing enough to fund the draft class imo....the good is they have made all of the moves thus far without any restructures or major cuts aside from Heath retiring...we have to assume that work will start as they get closer to the draft...Allen has to go...it makes sense to extend DeCastro and Timmons to bring those CHs down...I think we're going to see all 3 of these if DeCastro doesn't try to max out.

I like Billings the most right now for 25...I think he's a plug and play NT...some scouts think he's quick enough to be a penetration force and play 3 dwns...I still like him as a high impact 2 down player, but I'm also open to CB and looking deeper in the draft for NT run stopper type such as Javon Hargraves....I keep saying BPA should be a DT or DE, but Jackson3 has moved up a lot...I would like him as well.

My top 4 picks with a backup.

25...Billings or Jackson3
58...Cash, Neal, or Cravens
89...Javon Hagraves or Chris Jones if Jackson 3 goes 25
89...Xavien Howard, or Chris Jones, or Jordan Jenkins if Billings goes 25
123...Maurice Canady (if WJ3 is not 25) Nick Vannett, or Nate Sudfeld

so I saw on some random website that Timmons is apparently considered one of the "shoo-ins" to be cut by his respective team in the coming weeks. .. really?? I'd think that Pittsburgh would be far more likely to extend him rather than cut him loose at first opportunity...he may not be as good as some people make him about to be, but I don't know that it would be wise to part ways with him, at least not right now. . .

No way do we take either of those safeties in the 1st round. That's a definite reach.

Sounds like a Rapaport article? Dare I ask? lol.

Cut him? I wouldn't think so. His cap hit is ridiculous, so its understandable to think that way. But judging by his relationship with the team & his willingness to compensate for the good of the team, I wouldn't worry at all about him being cut. You are right in thinking that they are more likely to extend than to cut.

Taking any safety in the first round that isn't named Jalen Ramsey is a definite reach.
