Insidious relationship for sure, although I think a common one in sports. The sheriff's office really should give him a drop dead date, resign from the Steelers or he is no longer working for the Sheriff's office.

Yea I've never been one to support those who cover up for the ones that royally fuck up... Nobody is above the law. Not saying anyone that was let off the hook was guilty, but it they were guilty then they should be held accountable like the rest of us. I don't care what your salary is or how important you are... The law is the law

However I do find it somewhat unfair the context in which the story is written. His actions do appear to cross the line or tip-toe near it, but to say that he was improperly assisting players with legal issues is kind of a blanket statement that those players that were let off the hook were guilty... And essentially cheated the law. But I'm sure these sort of allegations come with the job he accepted. He should know full-well that the Steelers will deny any involvement and throw him under the bus if push came to shove.

Like you said... Insidious relationship

Yea I just saw the statement they issued to ESPN... Like I said, they are going to deny any involvement. In this case, they stated they weren't aware of any "conflicts of interest"

Would seem that all nfl teams have some type of a "cleaner"
Out here, after the 49res players have been getting themselves into shit' it has come out that the team employs some off duty San Jose officers to, shall we say, babysit the players.
They are trying to wash their hands of any "inappropriate" behavior or help from within the law, but we all kinda see what they are doing.
They advise, coverup, and steer any investigation in the direction most helpful to the team.

Anyone involved with this type of crap is by definition a scumbag, IMO, Steelers included.

Report: Former Steelers DC Dick LeBeau Unlikely To Join Cardinals Coaching Staff

Looks like Coach Dad decided not to leave the area. Not sure what his plan is, but I expect him to be on the sidelines somewhere. I'd like to see the Steelers bring him in as a consultant. He has ties to Green Bay (Capers) & Cincy (HC 2000-2002) so those are possibilities as well. Doubt he will find a DC job though.
