Another chapter is written in the anals (no pun) of the NFL. Baker handled it pretty well post game, saying it was unacceptable behavior.
The narrative will flourish, Garret will get thrown to the wolves. And people will continue to be astonished at such a display of poor sportsmanship. Appalling, to say the least.

No, in fact, the way Garret twisted Rudolph was to avoid roughing (Garrett landing on top of him), and the swing/spin was not violent either (or any more violent than would have been unavoidable)

He it is. It replays about a minute in. Garrett should have let up after he through the ball but he continued to wrestle him to the ground well after the ball was out.


I think a flag might have even been thrown for it but it got lost in all the commotion.

He certainly TRIED to brain him. But ultimately he hit him with the bottom of the helmet. Rudolph is completely unaffected by it and immediately turns to the ref to complain about it.

If Garrett had made clean contact with Rudolph he would have caused serious injury to Rudolph.

The point being, the result of the violence is not pertinent. The intent is what matters. Garrett is done for the year.

A lineman attempting to punch and/or kick a padded and helmeted player vs. a player swinging another players helmet as hard as he could and making direct contact with a helmet-less players skull?
