Bo Nix
-If you take away the 1st 4 games from this year, Nix went 267- 400 for 2,794 yards, 28TDs and 8 INTs
-If you expand that to a full 17 games, Nix's 2nd year (no sophomore slump here) looks like this:
349 – 523, 3,653 yards, 36TDs, 10 INTs, 66.75%.

Courtland Sutton

- Sutton and Nix finally seemed to get in sync in Week 8 against Carolina. From that point forward, Sutton had 60 catches for 804 yards and 6 TDs.
- If you expand that to a full 17 games, he finishes with
102 catches for 1,367 yards and 10 TDs.

Marvin Mims

- If you take Mims last 7 games of the season, where Payton seemingly realized his potential role, Mims caught 28 passes for 434 yards and 6 TDs.
- If you expand that to a full 17 games, he finishes with
68 catches for 1054 yards and 14 TDs.

Will these guys reach these numbers? Who knows but..for me, I think it shows that the team isn't as in bad shape as I thought they were 10 weeks ago. I think we add one new wide receiver and 2 new tight ends.

For me,

1. Sign TE Juwan Johnson from New Orleans. The fit is just too good. 28 years old. Familiar with and complementary of Sean Payton. The Saints are in legit cap hell. 7th among TEs in the NFL in 20 yard catches.
2. Use a Day 1 or Day 2 pick on a TE. Love this TE draft.
3. Find a replacement for Lil'Jordan. This draft could be filled with guys who could be like replacements for LJH OR they could find a legit slot receiver. In free agency, a guy like Darius Slayton would be sick.

Does Payton draft Tez Johnson? :)

Sadly, I don't know that Tez Johnson is the type of WR we need here with Mims and Franklin.

I think we need to add one more big physical WR to team with Sutton, Mims, Franklin and Vele.

Lil J is a good blocker but in the NFL you can't really roster a WR just because he can block. Go out and get someone who can do a little more. One more big physical WR who has high ceiling would be a great boost for this offense. Grab a RB... We have some RB depth we just don't have "the guy". and obviously grab a TE. who can catch and block. Our depth is there we just need a few more "dogs" on offense to really get this offense going. OL is solid.. We eve have depth there.

I hope Payton and Sutton can come to a new deal with the addition of another stud WR. Court wont come to TC on the current one-year deal.
however Its a business. Court is a "dog"

Stats are like bikinis. What they reveal is SUGGESTIVE. What they conceal, IS THE REAL STORY.

Just curious. He thrived against the bad teams and yesterday for one game KC was the worst team in the NFL. He did have an outstanding game against the Bucs and that was great.

Against most other teams or defenses that were above average, he was very INCONSISTENT.

He looked great against the..

Chiefs *
Panthers
Saints
Raiders × 2
Bengals rather average defense
Falcons
Colts

Just saying that could very well be the real story and no, there's no shame in looking average against good defenses.

It just looks real bad and that includes later jn the season.

This should be the least impressive offensive talent he plays with in the foreseeable future.

I would agree that Nix does need to get better against some of those better defenses. I don't think it is all on him though. Run game struggled in a lot of those games against good defenses leaving Nix in very difficult situations such as 3rd and long. I would also add that weapons wise the Broncos are still 2 pieces away of another good WR that can get consistent separation and a TE that can threaten the middle of the field. You add those things and the offense should open up quite a bit. As CEH said this might end up being the worst group of weapons that Nix plays with for the foreseeable future.

Weapons and diva WRs etc are an illusion. Always have been. The media hypes them while they're putting great numbers etc.

Is it me or has Josh Allen and the Bills gotten better WITHOUT Diggs? Diggs a diva. Now the offense was free to not feeling this pressure to feed Diggs without him complaining. While CJ stroud has somehow had a rather lackluster season even though they got Diggs. Huh

After the Chiefs decided to allocate funds for a stronger defense with Chris Jones and company rather than Tyreek Hill. They are on the verge of a 3rd straight Lombardi. While Miami hasn't won a play off game with "better weapons." Huh

I'm not saying we need a super star WR. I think you find guys that can fit certain roles and make teams have to defend the entire field. Vele showed some of what I want to see of that middle of the field/intermediate area, but he was very up and down this season. Heck his TD against the Chiefs was in part because he ran the wrong route and just happened to be in the right spot. So maybe he could become that guy with an offseason to really dig into the playbook and become that trusted #2 or #3 depending on how you look at Mims.

Mostly for me the best way to improve this offense is get yourself a consistent run game. The OL for the most part is decent at run blocking and should be better with another season together and a RB that could actually see the right hole to run through. Getting yourself in more 3rd and short situations to keep the offense going is what was missing from this team. I would make taking a RB in FA and one with a top-2 round pick a priority.

Would really like a dynamic inside LB that's versatile rather than a WR in the draft.

I honestly think LB is one of the toughest positions to find in the draft. What they are asked to do at the college level is far from what the task will be in the NFL. I would love one as well, but not sure where you go to find them. Maybe if Philly is stupid enough to let Zach Baun hit FA then I go sign him to a big deal. He will probably be out of our price range though. There are some decent names hitting FA though. Dre Greenlaw might be cheaper with his injury, but has shown some nice talent when healthy. Leo Chenal could be looking for a starting gig. He has been a decent coverage guy for KC.

Always thought one of the greatest losses on the defense back then was Trevathan. Next was Malik Jackson.

We've been looking for a play-making tight end for what feels like forever. Jake Butt, Noah Fant, Greg Dulcich.......they've tried. Bo Nix will benefit in a huge way if Paton can get us a stud TE.

He was an underrated reason that defense was historic for sure. We haven't had an all around LB like him since.

There are very few TE's in the league that make a truly big time positive impact. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to find someone as it would help, but to me the bigger priority for the offense is finding a good/great RB. Making teams have to fear the running game as much as the passing game would take this offense to a whole new level. Look at the Bills this season. Josh Allen is great, but he is having maybe the best year of his career in part because defenses have to worry about the run game destroying them just as much as Allen taking over.

A good tight end could be complimentary to an improving running game. I like our running backs but none of them represent the bell cow we're looking for. At least not yet. If the Broncos can get that fixed AND add a stud tight end, the sky's the limit.
