On par with Rogue One and similar feel. Missed on some broad strokes but lots of little ones that are great.

Good but too long. And Finn sucks. Rey is the all powerful main character and often pushed back for no reason

I felt RO was the best SW movie since the originals so does it meet that level?

Not even close.

The whole part with the rebel ships being somehow "out of range" was SO SO stupid. Since that was basically the main part of the movie, it really took me off of it. Why did the bombers need to get that close in order to release the bombs? I know they like to base their battles on the WWII, but that was just too dumb to me.

And with that, I am done with this thread until I see the movie...

Get that close, moved that slow, etc.. there was a lot bad about it. As I'm usually down on most things, I tried to highlight the good parts. I can bitch and moan about everything I disliked about the movie, though I found most people here don't care for that. Still disappointed with It.

The whole plot part with Finn and the Casino was pointless, they didn't achieve anything and didn't advance the plot in any way... It was just to set up the new trilogy with the slave kid, I guess.

The movie was a big disappointment to me. The bad parts took me off, and I couldn't even enjoy the few good parts (Rey's story was pretty good).

BTW, I really don't understand the critics. Even if I'm being too critical, there's no way in the world that this movie deserves a 94% Rotten tomatoes score. I know that this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but critics are just too benevolent and forgiving with Disney products.

Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was pretty good but not sure if it lived up to the hype. There was a part in it early on that I thought was absolutely ridiculous. Worse than anything from the prequels. It was really hard to overlook it but overall I thought it was decent. It had some stuff that I really liked.

I was underwhelmed but not by a lot.

Those battle scenes seemed so off to me.

I am going to wait on a more final judgment after seeing again down the road but I was not satisfied like I was after RO.

I kept hearing about this amazing twist. I'm not still not 100% sure what that was. There were a couple of minor twists towards the end of the 2nd act that pretty much cancelled each other out.

But I'm guessing the so-called big twist came closer to the end. This was really poorly done in my opinion. It might have been really good except they pretty much gave it away earlier on. I mean I get leaving little clues and foreshadowing but those are supposed to mean more when you re-watch it. Not beat you over the head with it. In fact, the part I'm talking about doesn't just make the "twist" predictable, but it actually makes it necessary. Otherwise the part I'm referring to would have been the 2nd example of something that is way worse than anything seen in the prequels.

Spoiler out what you speak of, I want to make sure we are thinking the same thing.

6.5/10. I'll post my full thoughts when I have more time but to quickly sum up, 1st half was really boring and 2nd half was really well done outside of a few things I can't get over(none of which has to do with the big twist although I'd say this movie has 2 twists).

The whole thing about Luke not really being there. After he came out of the 1st Order concentrating all of their fire on him completely unscathed, I knew he couldn't have actually been there. Had he actually survived that it would have been really dumb. Only question in my mind at that point was who was making Kylo see that. Was it Luke or Rey?

Saw it, it probably ranks 4th or 5th in star wars world, easily behind RO and Empire IMO, though at least there was no jar-jar, silly kid in a fighter, or death of coolest Sith Lord ever. And here were glaring problems with the plot that I have a problem with.

The BAD
1. WHY can't the rebels make a bomber that moves faster than 10 m/hr? That was silly.
2. And what, they don't have a way to throw those bombs at the dreadnaught other than flying right over it??
4. So let me get this straight. Rebels going at top speed to escape the First Order posse. Said posse can't destroy them due to distance. Yet Finn flies off with a ship, fucks around at a casino for 1/4 the movie, flies back in to the dreadnaught which is still chasing the rebels, and then gets caught before carrying out the plan????? This is just weak and lazy writing. There was no point to his entire story.
4. Leia uses the force to pull herself back to the ship after being in space. I just thought this was dumb.
5. No overall plot twists that I could see. None of newsworthiness, anyway.

The GOOD
1. Suicide with Light Speed. Coolest scene across all 9 movies so far.
2. The rest of the action was good.

Definitely worth seeing, but the movie seemed really long and there was a good bit that was irrelevant and unnecessary to the overall plot. I can barely get past that fact.

I thought it was 2/3 filler and 1/3 amazing.

If Social Justice Wars doesn't bother you then the new movie has a lot of little things that are good. I do question the motives of Disney to paint capitalism in such a negative fashion when they are that beautiful casino place built by the Empire.

Considering they just bought Fox too, message rings kinda hollow.
