I know this won't happen but I just hope whoever directs these movies will at least try summon their inner Christopher Nolan and try to have at least one scene that does not need CGI.

Roll the green screen to the back of the studio for just an hour ...it won't kill you.

Yeah i did. I also bought the graphic novel. Thats pretty cool. Its all 3 books in one and its cool to see the characters in a graphic novel. I only wish they would of did one for the yuzaan vong series. Instead they released comics for that. I still think the new movies wouldve been great if it was the vong war. But prolly too dark for disney

I finally started the Thrawn Trilogy after having it on my "list" for over a decade. I'll have to check out the graphic novel after I complete the books.
To be honest I have always shied away from the EU novels for some reason. I guess I didn't think that the authors would live up to expectations? Anywho, a friend convinced me otherwise and reiterated that I should start with Thrawn.

I remember reading an interview with Lucas years back where he said that he expected the final trilogy to be completely CGI, and that he was waiting for the technology to get there.

I guess he changed his mind.

Abrams is very hit and miss with his directing, IMO. He loves him some green screen and some hand held camera.

From all the teaser clips and things Abrams has done, it's pretty clear he's using a lot of practical effects for Episode VII.

I didnt start reading the EU until i was in my mid 30's. My cousin gave me the first 3 books of the yuzaan vong series and i was hooked once they killed chewbaca. Fell in love with alot of the characters. Named my daughter and son jaina and jacen lol.

I think after the Thrawn Trilogy I'm going to go back and read some Old Republic and Clone War books. Specifically with Obi Wan as a more central character. A friend convinced me that TT was the one to start with though.
