A bigger makeup budget? Forehead ridge of the week alien becomes full face treatment of the week alien?
Klingons are not an alien-of-the-week. They are one of the absolute core species in that universe. And their look is well established in a rich universe that includes about 15 movies and 7 previous tv series’ (if you count the animated series, which, if I am not mistaken, is considered canon).

They changed their look in the early 90s for TNG, but they explained that change (after quite a bit of grumbling from fans, IIRC). Now the6 change the look again? I am willing to shelf that frustration for now, assuming they will address it, but they HAVE to address it.

Oh I get the history. Have had decades of people trying to convince me that anything ST beyond the first TV show and the movies was worth my time.

Dunno how you'd expect them to 'explain' it without breaking the 4th wall though.

To me it's kinda' like moving on from Sean Connery as Bond. You either accept it and move on, or you don't. They're not going to waste time trying to explain why a totally different looking guy is now asking for 'shaken not stirred.'

Star track has spent the last 50 years building continuity. When they broke the continuity with the latest movies, fans got pissed BECAUSE of the continuity they have established.

Bond has essentially been a series of movies that mainly ignores continuity. Similar to Jack Ryan.

Comparing the two is not even apples and oranges. It is more like apples and running.

So the human adopted by Spock's parents, that is the main character.
What the hell?
Spock never mentions her
His parents never mention her
His half brother never mentions her
had to look this up but she is 5-10 years older than Spock. They haven't given her character age but the actress is 32 and Spock would have been 25 during the time frame of this show

Eh, I guess. I think you're being a bit too overdramatic though. They're not retconning the Klingons into misunderstood grumpy rascals though. If anything they're even MORE aggressive and warlike. They just made their 'look' a bit more dramatic.

I don't get the 'OMFG, they killed KENNY!' element to it.

But then again, I'm admittedly not a rabid Trekkie either.

If they were changing the underlying ETHOS of Roddenberry, I could see the outrage. So far, all I've seen is some extra facial ridges and broader nose structure.

But if we take A to B

and then B to C

I don't get what the fuss is?

What am i missing?

Caught the first episode and it was just....meh.

The walking in the pattern of a Star Fleet symbol so the ship could see them in a dust storm was pretty god damn stupid right off the bat.

As someone mentioned the Walking Dead chick being Spock's adoptive sister that has never been mentioned before seems like a weird and unnecessary way to try to connect this to the original series. Maybe there's some reasoning behind it but right now it sure seems like they could have just had her adoptive father be any other Vulcan.

The dialogue felt like I was watching a cut scene from the newest Mass Effect game which was a bit unsettling.

Also pretty lame how they leave it on a cliff hanger and then give you the "see more by paying $5 a month!" but hey, they just be trying to make some $.

Still haven't watched the second episode but I'm going to hang with this for a month or so. If it doesn't get much better it's probably not worth $5 a month for one show.

It is 5.99 per month for service WITH ads. If you want ad-free, that is 9.99 per month. But they don’t offer their entire library with a subscription. It is only a portion of their library.

I would have no prob paying about 7 a month for ad-free access to their entire library. But 6 bucks for acces to a partial library WITH ads?

Fuck that.

You are in industry. How are you encouraging this?

I WANT to pay a FAIR price for my viewing. A lot of hard work was put into these programs. I don’t want to steal it.

And I like watching on my actual tv when possible.

I gave up on that fight a LOOOONG time ago. And yep, I used to fight that battle all the time with internet libertar...er ... dweebs who'd argue that the only companies being hurt were big ones who could afford it.

I pointed out that the team I did my fucking sports documentary about only ordered 6 copies, because they knew they could just copy it.

It's just a digital world nowadays.

But good on ya' anyway cal. :)

Couch tuner works most of the time but you're getting what you pay for with that site. They're constantly switching domain names due to getting shut down, the quality is often 480p or less, and if you're watching a popular show loading times can be a bitch when everybody is trying to stream at the same time. Streaming from a site like that also makes it way more difficult to watch on an actual TV.

That's the main reason I paid for HBO Now for a few months during the run of Silicon Valley and GoT. Didn't want to deal with all that. I had multiple people who use that site asking for my account info because the traffic shot up too much to stream GoT. It also helped that there were other decent shows on that service with no ads. $15 a month is still a rip off for that but I figure I was just going to blow it all on fart porno anyway.

I work indirectly for a cable provider, so I get every channel known to mankind, high speed internet and a landline for a hundred a month.

I have no idea why anyone would pay triple that, which is what it'd cost me if I wasn't an employee.

She was the best character. I'm not sure about the Captain but I hate the Alien on board already.

If it was free I'd watch it but it wasn't that good.

She's never mentioned because Vulcans are embarrassed about her.... you see....

....she's human

....she's female

....she's black

....and

....she probably took a knee during the anthem.

Ok now I am weirded out a bit.
In the new movies Spock is dating Uhura
I look at her picture and I look at his new sister and I think Spock has an issue.

I see this is only going to be streamed, not going to be on broadcast. What a stupid idea. It's not like CBS has any quality programming to watch now.

They claim that that is going to be explained as part of the show. I'm skeptical about it too, but i believe it's not an oversight.

I think they are trying too hard to force a connection.
I wasn't sold enough to pay for it.

i have a family member who already subscribes to CBS all access, so I'm using her account to watch STD (Those are really awful initials now that I realize it), instead of paying myself
