The thing is, if he's good for a few years, he's just gonna opt out. The previous Yankees may have re-signed him to a huge free agency contract at the age of 31, but the new Yankees may not. So they could get the best of him from age 28-30 and then let him walk.It might suck for a few years, but good to see the Yanks take on their first contract that is guaranteed to be an albatross around the neck towards the end of it.
They might be good for a few years, we might have to endure multiple rings and have to hear the bandwagoners brag about it. And yes, it;s impossible to be a Yankees fan without bandwagoning. Even if you're from New York, swap the history of success between the Mets and Yankees and you'd all be Mets fans. The laziness there is sickening really.
But rest assured, at the end of, they're gonna have to rebuild again.
another AROD signing?? get the fans to come to the stadium to pay for those $10dolla hot dogggs!
we needed PITCHERS dumazzzes... scoring runs was not the problem, relievers mot problem... starters PROBLEM!!!! what the.......
And just think about adding Manny Machado next season.Yikes!
Won't happen, they can barely fit in Stanton's deal.
MLB needs to stop letting brokeass motherfuckers own teams.
If you can't afford payroll, you prolly should buy a AAA Franchise instead.
Good for the Yanks that they installed their own to run a Minor League Affliate out of North Havana.
Yeah, that rotation doesn't get their due. Top 10 in WAR/FIP/xFIP as well. That rotation currently projects for 14.6 WAR in 2018 and that's without Sabathia. I think the Dodgers SP currently project to have the most WAR (17.5) and the Indians are just behind at 16.8, though I think Bauer outperforms his projection (4.14 ERA, 2.6 WAR) and I'd imagine Salazar throws more than 94 innings as a starter.

They can though. All they need to do is be willing to go over in 2019/2020 and then Stanton can opt out. They can go over for 2 straight years and then try to get under again for 2021 if they want.Won't happen, they can barely fit in Stanton's deal. Harper and Machado will sign elsewhere....Boston probably gets one.

I hate to hope for player injury, so I won't, but the best case scenario for the rest of the league is that Stanton's history of being injury prone continues as he gets older, and that he doesn't opt out of the contract.
That only cost him a few games really. The other injuries are legit concerns to re-occur. Hamstring, knee, abdomenHas he really been injury prone though? Or more prone to fastballs to the face?

Last year was his second full season in the majors. Sure, the fastball to the face affected one of his less-than-full seasons, but there are four others in his seven-year career (not including rookie season).
There's also the possibility that a less injury prone player would have gotten out of the way of that fastball to the face. Stanton swung at it.

Third
145 games, 638 plate appearances, led the league in HRs, 2nd in RBI, 3rd in the NL in WAR for position players2014?
I'll admit it's close, but he missed over 10% of his team's games. I'd be willing to give a guy who is generally healthy the benefit of the doubt on that, but I won't for a guy who's missed nearly a quarter of his teams' games over his career.
