Why wouldn't you want to keep CC? He is a solid back end of the rotation guy. They're not asking him to be a 1 or 2. Instead they're asking him to be a 4 or 5.

Also had a solid 3.91 ERA in 2016 as well. I would gladly take an ERA around 4 from my 4th or 5th starter especially in the AL.

Why does CC need to repeat his 2017? Even if his ERA increases a half run next year, he'd still be an above average starter (MLB starter average ERA was 4.49) and would be one of the better #4/5 starters in baseball.
