EXPANSION!

AND A PLAY-IN FORMAT FOR THE PLAYOFFS.

I think 20 teams in should work nicely

1) Shorten preseason.

2) Start the regular season around Oct. 1.

3) Start the Final no more than 3 days after the last CF.

4) Get rid of the 3 day breaks between games in the playoffs. It's the playoffs drive them into the fucking ground.

The NHL needs an in-season tournament but it needs to one up the NBA version. Something like a tag team title, along those lines. And I feel like a b2b in the first round of the playoffs would be dynamite, especially after a triple ot game. And while we’re at it, any goal scored from the trapezoid should be worth two goals, three if it’s a slap shot.

I like the AHL format of 2-3-2. Top seed gets games 1 and 2 at home, 3,4 ,5 on road and 6 and 7 at home. Would make it very easy to go back to back nights and shorten overall series length.

Canucks benefited off that format in 94 until the Rangers had last say and changed it back to 2-2-1-1-1

Bettman then saw that an actual WEST team can take advantage of that and killed it (I may have made that last part up)
