Series Thread: Second Round - Vegas Golden Knights vs. Edmonton Oilers

I know many of you hate the Oilers. As a Caps' fan I get hating a more successful regional team. But I would posit the Golden Knights are more worthy of hate. They have been around for 8 seasons. They've won the Cup. They've made the playoffs 7 of 8 seasons. They've been in the Cup finals twice and the conference finals FOUR times. They made their pregame show into an evening at Medieval Times.

The Caps are 50 years old and haven't made the conference finals that many times. Blue Jackets fans have seen fewer series wins in 25 years than Vegas won in their first season.

Fuck Vegas.

Obviously being a Flames fan it comes with the territory that I loathe the Oilers and while they have had plenty of success, most of that occurred 35-40 years ago. It's more the arrogance and entitlement of the media and fans that drives my hatred towards that organization these days. They have no problem bringing in people with very checkered pasts (including major brushes with the law) if they think it will help them win hockey games. If that's the way you want to operate, that's fine, but don't be surprised when you receive criticism for these types of moves.

Ill speak for the Canadians on here, it may seem like petty twisted logic ... but it gets explained a lot (seemingly over and over again) when some random yokel poster comes on here and says shit to the effect like " HA HA CANADIAN TEAM HASNT WON A CUP YET AGAIN HAHAHAHHHAAA "

Winnipeg usually gets a soft pass related to sympathy because their poor bastard fans and players have to live in Winnipeg ... I spent one day there I KNOW ... I was fooled by the mounds of dirt on every Winnipeg road that ended up being piles of snow covered in dirt ... in October !

It shouldn't be a tough concept to grasp - I mean, do Manchester United fans root for Man City to win the Premiership? Yet all us Canadians should rally behind the last Canadian team remaining in the playoffs? Get the hell outta here with that stuff.

Also, Oilers fans don't want any support from fans of other Canadian teams either and they would feel exactly the same way if it were the Flames or Canucks in their position and they are taking great joy in the Leafs falling flat once again.

I was saddened to learn Lethbridge was on treaty 7 land ... that could have been the next shithole US state

The frustrating thing is that there are plenty of good people in Alberta, but they are constantly being told that they are being ripped off by Ottawa and that's why health care and education are so terrible in that province. Pretty sure that's a provincial responsibility.
