Everyone keeps saying the defense is the issue, not the QB. Invest some money in the defense then. Oh wait, you can't if you over pay for Kirk Cousins. People on here are arguing that the QB isn't the sole purpose of winning. So, why are you investing so much money into your QB if the defense is the real problem? It's a legit question, no trolling, just using the arguments made to me, and turning it back around. What's more important, the defense or the QB?

As shark pointed out, cap space even with singing Cousins is no issue. Also, its widely known that buying expensive FAs is not a road to success. Drafting and developing is.

How has drafting defensive talent helped you out so far?

Well considering that this year is the first time in about 6 years that we have actually drafted for defensive talent early in the draft, I will let you know.

I do know that chasing the elite QB and throwing draft picks and money at the position has lead to 20 years of futility with the occasional fluke season thrown in there to keep it deplorable.

I do know that chasing the elite QB and throwing draft picks and money at the position has lead to 20 years of futility with the occasional fluke season thrown in there to keep it deplorable.

Until this year, with the exception of Kerrigan, what defensive talent have we drafted in the last 5 years or so? I'll answer. None, really. You know why? Because we traded a shit load of prime draft picks trying to find a franchise QB. Which is why when you have one that can perform at an top level (which KC has done his 2 years at starter), you don't dump him and put yourself back into the QB russian roulette game of desperation.

So the last two years, Kirk Cousins has performed at a top level? And I've said numerous times the best thing for the Redskins to do is to pay Kirk Cousins. Doesn't mean he's worth the money though.

Well, lets see. Yes. He has. By all measures of QB performance. QBR? Top 6. QB rating? Top 3. Yards/attempt? Top 3. Total Yards? Top 3. Completion %? Top 10. Yards/Completion? Top 7. There are numerous others. His performance is not what stopped this team from making the playoffs last year. If fact, without his performance, we were probably a 4-6 win team at best.

Just don't see how you can argue these facts, unless that is all you are bent on doing.

Know what the problem is?.... Anyone?...The NFL has gone too far in selling the importance of a QB and too many have bought it, hook, line, and sinker that they're in too deep to realize that championships have always been won by defenses. It was and has been true in the beginning, during times of merger, the great eighties and now even with rule changes that allow passers to amass these large numbers.

i am sorry terry but you are not very informed about our team at all when it comes to draft picks at all . this is the first year we have committed good draft picks (en masse ) in quite some time

before KC took over we won 7 games in 2 years , since then we have had back to back winning seasons for the first time since the early 90's

we are building , it takes time to do that , we are moving in the right direction

What is elite money? Are stafford and Carr being paid elite money? Flacco? Apparently not. They are being paid market value. Your position makes no sense on so many fronts. Do you not understand the basics of supply and demand economics?

This whole money argument is a huge deflection by those that don't care for KC. Either you believe that KC is the best QB that we can field today or you don't. IF you do, then the money is not an issue. He is not going to get anymore than he should as the franchise QB of an NFL team. The market will determine that value. This does not mean that KC will always be the best QB we will have access to, but for this season (and I'll go out on a limb and say next season also) he is the best we have. For those that don't believe KC is the best we can field, then who is? I've only seen one poster that has concerns about KC try and offer an answer to that question. While I disagree with him, I at least respect he was willing to answer that question. For those others that question KC and use money as the reason, what is your alternative? And if it is truly a money issue, why do you care? Cap dollars isn't an issue as Shark has shown numerous times. Would you rather have the most frugal franchise (winning off the field!) or the best franchise we can field?

12 individuals cost a bit more than a QB.

So we don't spend on defense? Josh Norman and Ryan Kerrigan immediately come to mind. How about some draft capital? Well we spent our first on a DE, finally.
