Jerar's recovery timeline could suggest a move to the 60-day injured list. He'll likely need a lengthy rehab assignment once he is ready for game action again. This would open up a spot on the 40-man roster if that is an avenue the Giants pursue.

In the past (different regime), the Giants have been averse to adding players to the 60 even if there is a chance they could get even just a week of extra play from the player. Obviously, it is hard to predict how Posey will navigate these situations.

I am not certain there is a big need for roster space atm, though. We still have VR who will gone before the start of the season. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Murphy hit the 60. I would like to think Wilmer would be a candidate as well, but I just don’t get that vibe right now.

Baby Giants v. Real Giants

Roupp dominant again: 5IP 3BB 8K 1ER
Winn slapped around for the Cats
Bird in now T6, walked the first batter

Ramos 2-2 plus a BB, done for the night
JHL back and doubles in a run, draws a walk, done for the night
Koss doubles in a run
Huff 1-3, done for the night
LWJ 1-3, done for the night

Bird just gave up a double, T6 second and third no outs...Jay Clam just grounded out to third, productive out. And Porter singles in another run. Ouch.

T6 3-3 and Bird is struuuugling.

I am a bit shocked on Hjelle's demotion. Looks like we have 5 guys pitching for 4 bullpen spots now.
