Today is the 1st opt-out opportunity for Lou Trivino and Max Stassi. If either one triggers an opt-out, the Giants will have up to 48 hours to add them to the roster or let them reach free agency.

Their ST stats:
Trivino: 8.1 IP, 0 ER, 9 SO
Stassi: 6-22, 2 HR, 6 RBI

I wouldn’t be surprised if they add both. I would need to look at the roster to see who the DFA candidates would be to make space. Are there any 60-candidates?

4-6 weeks expected for Jerry. That means he likely won’t be put on the 60.

But Villar could be DFA’d (traded?). And I wonder how much they really like Stassi. He is 35, and basically a poor man’s Bailey (all glove, no bat). But if they don’t like Porter (??), they need insurance for Murphy. Maybe they 60 Murphy and activate Stassi?

I don't know, but I have been feeling more optimistic after watching a few Giants spring training games. They might be better than I gave them credit for. I hope I was backwards in my prediction with the wins and losses.

We are much deeper than I was expecting. But that depth is ENTIRELY untested. Some will crash hard. Hopefully some step up and become MLB starter-level.

A LOT needs to go right for us to even compete for the #3 WC.

If Stassi makes it, Huff gets dfa'd. Really doubt the Giants carry 3 catchers and Huff has no options left.
