I read somewhere the list of guys announced to be starting the year in SJ. I think it was the Merc - lemme go check.

Also today, the San Jose Giants announced their roster for the 2012 season. Those headed to San Jose are: Andrew Susac, Joe Panik, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Jarrett Parker, Ryan Lollis, Luke Anders, Carter Jurica, Alex Burg, Juan Ciriaco, Bobby Haney, Devin Harris, Chris Loften, Jeff Arnold, Dan Burkhart, Shawn Sanford, Taylor Rogers, Ryan Bradley, Justin Schumer, Jack Snodgrass, Stephen Harrold, Seth Rosin, Josh Osich, Drew Bowlin, Edward Concepcion, Phil McCormick, Luis Rojas, Jose Valdez and Chris Wilson.

I'm a little concerned as to accuracy of the announced roster, as it is filled with a bunch of different C, SS, 1B, 3B, and RF.

But it looks like a bunch of 2011 high draftees will start the season here in SJ !!

He had Tommy John in 2010 when he was at Oregon State (fuck the Beavers) and a few other injury problems (elbow/back) that decreased his velocity in the College WS last year, but he does indeed have a fastball that sits at 94 and peaked at 98 and throws a nice slider/changeup combo. Giants just think that he had hit his dead arm phase in the Tommy John recovery when his nagging injuries showed up.

Fun fact: He threw a no hitter at OSU against UCLA and Trevor Bauer who was the 3rd pick in the same draft (D-Backs). Defiantly a sleeper for the Giants.

Looks to me that Belt has made the team, pushing Nate out to 4th outfielder.

Gets no hype, but I think he could be a legit everyday player someday. Has 15-20 HR power, speed, and 74BB in the minors aint nothing the snubb imo. Shows he has a lot of patience at the plate.

My son and I went to some Baby Giant games in SoCal last year. At High Desert, Parker absolutely crushed two home runs that are probably still going. Kid has a lot of power, it seemed to us.

Slim to none with none organizing its suitcase-packing strategy. His defense and base-running alone make him a more than serviceable 4th outfielder. If he can find a way to manage a .320 OBP, he should start (unless Huff is raking and Belt isn't getting enough reps). Either way, true out fielders are a weakness, depth-wise, for this team, and someone will get hurt along the way (hopefully, not as many as last season).

Belt's an outfielder now too. This is the trickle down of Posey playing a lot of first base. So, I'd say 10% that Nate is outright released, but maybe 60% he starts on the DL. That's the only way both Pill and Chez3 make this team, I think (I'm assuming Belt is in). And the Giants seem to want those two guys to make the roster. You might recall the Giants did something similar to Fred Lewis in 2010.

On Nate, his swing looks as bad as I've ever seen it. He's one guy I'd like to see open up a definitive hole, give something for pitchers to attack so he can get some predictable pitch sequences. I think he may be trying to cover too much of the plate.
