IMO, if you are not a CFB fan or just a very casual one... you don't know much about OU's history.

ND on the other hand....

How many movies have been made about OU football?

Exactly.

For the most part ND's flair is vastly media created and hyped. When it comes to actual results on the football field in the last 65 years, that flair wanes considerably.

I already showed where they stood in wins from 1950 to 2014 (12th)

From 1960 - 2014 it drops to (13th)
From 1970 - 2014 (13th)
From 1980 - 2014 (18th)
From 1990 - 2014 (21st)
From 2000 - 2014 (32nd)

At what point will their success in the days prior to radio and refrigeration stop being so pimped?

You might as well be pimping Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Minnesota, etc..

As shown......In the last 65 years, they're not even worthy of Top 10 consideration.

You want to award them #1 based on embellished fucking movies about the 20's?

I do love those old Notre Dame/Knute Rockne movies tho.
I do as well. Knute Rockne is kind of a big deal to me for a number of reasons. In addition to being the best coach in the history of the game,
  1. My mother's father took freshmen chemistry from Knute Rockne (a course that I now teach.)
  2. My father's parents had mutual friends with the Rocknes and would run into them a lot at social gatherings.
  3. As an undergrad, I was a lifeguard at the pool in the Rockne Memorial. (okay - that's a bit of a stretch in terms of being connected to Knute Rockne.)
Knute Rockne is pretty much the best of the All-American story. A poor immigrant who worked his way to pay for college. He excelled academically and athletically. And he went on to be one of the most influential people in his field in his time.

Would that I could accomplish even a fraction of what he did in his all too short lifetime. I mean honestly - by the time Knute Rockne was my age, he'd been dead for 9 years!

Did you know that Maryland's only NC was won by Jim Tatum. The Head Coach of Oklahoma before he went to Maryland.

Did you also know that Jim Tatum emptied out a petty cash fund before he took off to Maryland? I can't recall the amount but it was 5 figures which was a lot back then. He used that money to bribe recruits at Maryland. Got a championship out of it. It's in the book 'Undefeated'. Great read by the way.

That reminds me of a quote from a pretty good movie....

"Fighter pilots make movies, bomber pilots make history"

In this case Notre Dame is the fighter pilot. 47 straight!

Tbh, I can't decide between Bama, SC, ND, or Oky.

Take your pick. No wrong answer.

This is what Notre Dame fans think of the Domers. Notre Dame doesn't wear red. Not even their fans get out and support them. Why should you?

Notre Dame fans rely on the media to keep the glory days of 90 years ago front and center.

I'd sell my ticket too when people are paying 10 times the value. Hell I sold Southern Miss tickets to Nebraska fans for $240. Southern Fucking Miss. How much are you willing to pay this time around?
