Where in Tahoe do you travel to? I'm on the outskirts of Pacific Heights and have a cabin by Rubicon Bay. It's a real nice get-a-way when you need to leave city life.

Town of Truckee, actually. It's about 15-mins from the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Gorgeous area. The slopes were something else this year.

We had snow until the first week of June. Summer is finally start to peak its head. You lived in San Francisco for a period of time right, Dash?

Three times for work, actually. San Francisco is a great city and I love Tahoe area (skiing and gambling, what a great combination)

world beater eh.. i'm kinda ashamed right now i didnt think he was this special.. he's gettin some unanimous heavy praise right now and i feel like i've missed something haha

Well... there are a lot of guys in the league who look like they COULD be world beaters, but aren't on a consistent basis... Spezza is one of them. But he's productive, he works hard, and he shows some amazing flashes of brilliance. Every season I get the feeling that he's just one step away from breaking out and really dominating.

absolutely dripping with talent. Used to only play one end, but has developed into more complete player.

I've had it with this team and I mean it this time.
who is your #2 team?

Me too but it's pretty hard when the fans are contantly booing you and the media is hounding you for one little turnover.

I don't want him to be traded but it's probably for the best after Murray's little chat with the media yesterday.

Hopefully Murray gets the can soon though. I really am serious about not cheering for them until he's gone.

Some new insight from Bryan Murray...

Russo's Rants | StarTribune.com

Nothing we haven't already heard. He says only one team is really interested (Columbus?) but I found this quote very interesting.

"Jason took it very personal this time. He’s frustrated, and when you write a bad thing about players, some fans pick up on it and some fans were booing him a bit, so he’s very unhappy about that."

Hmmm...for once I happen to agree with Murray. I still don't think he's an innocent bystander though. He wants to trade Spezza but he's obviously not going to come out and say something like that. The fact that he keeps revealing his private conversation is very disturbing though.

Murray for once speaks appropriately here.

He sticks up for Spezz and says he's not looking to move him.

I've been hard on Spezza in the past and I still don't think he's playing like a $7M guy. The Sens need him to become elite and he hasn't done that, on a consistent basis, for at least two years now.

All that being said, idiots like Garrioch and Brennan (neither of whom could tie Spezza's skates for him without fucking it up) have no idea what the NHL is really like. Spezza didn't lose anything for the Sens. No player does.

I don't think Spezza will be moved and I fully expect him to light it up from the get go this year. Let's not forget that he was hurt last year; a healthy season will hopefully shut up fatso (Garrioch) and the illiterate (Brennan) for good.

I loved the way he played the last half of last season and he really was not that bad in the playoffs. But the issue for Spezza is staying healthy. When he's healthy he's a point a game player easily.

But he's more valuable to the Sens then what they would get for him in a trade. I think you have to keep him and surround him with some talent, maybe even bring in a mentor type of guy to guide him.

However, I'm convinced Murray wants to trade him and he likely will now that Marleau is off the market. Now is the time where teams looking for that #1 center will up the ante for a guy like Spezza. If a deal does go through it better be a damn good deal. This is all Murray's doing imo though...

With Nash on his wing, he'd be a 1.25 PPG player. Healthy or not. :)

The Marleau thing was apparently what Columbus was waiting for, from what I hear. They were going to take a run at trading for the rights to negotiate with him. That fell through so I imagine Murray's phone's been on fire today.

Jackets beat writer said today that a #1 center is top priority, Brassard is available and they are willing to spend. Huselius' welcome is officially worn out too.

He also said that Volchenkov is squarely in the crosshairs. The Jackets are prepared to enter the fray and stay there. They are also looking at Grebeshkov if it doesn't work with A-Train.

Have you officially moved on to the Jackets forty? I'm searching for a team to cheer for while Murray ruins the franchise. Once he's out I'll probably start cheering for them again but I just can't stand the guy.

I'm now convinced he's the worst GM this team has ever had. Maybe not in terms of drafting but in every other aspect he's left a lot to be desired. Not to mention all these sticky situations that happen almost on a yearly if not monthly basis. How many players have demanded to be traded since he took over? 10 players? Maybe not that many but more then enough. If it happens once, sure chalk it up to coincidence but when it happens this many times there's got to be something going on that we don't know about.

Not until the announcement at the draft ;-)

"Before the fourth selection, we have a trade to announce"

And of course the photo op July 1 at Nationwide Arena, announcing that new defensive workhorse.

Murray is a dumbass of Bob Clarke proportions. But even Clarkie can say that he only ran his mouth and fucked himself once. Murray continues to blab all over creation and then act like "Was that wrong, should I not have done that?"

The worst part is the ego. He gets into these pissing matches and he just wants the media to take his side. And he wants to show who's boss. His ego over his decision to commit to Redden is what sunk the team. I still don't blame him for focusing on keeping Wade, but he made his decision, the media questioned him about being able to stand up to players demands, and next thing you know he's refusing to call Chara back and the spiral begins. Corvo, Commodore, Havlat, blah blah blah...

I keep seeing Sens fans saying "Yay! Spezza is staying!". That's the worst thing that can happen. You can't get that shit back in the horse. Murray aired Spezza's personal feelings all over and if he's anything less than, say, Steve Yzerman for the remainder of his contract, he will continue to get mercilessly boo'ed. He has a bad year and next year Murray's dilemma is having Spezza sits out the following year. Or continues to mail 'em in. Cat's out of the bag. Murray painted himself into a corner. And he has until Wednesday to sort it out.

Only has himself to blame. The closer it gets to July 1, the smaller the offers get. I'd bet Columbus has countered and taken the pick off the table.

Well, to be fair that was Muckler who committed to Wade and didn't even call Chara. But I still don't think it was right for Murray to try and trade Redden to San Jose without Redden saying he'd waive his NTC first. Yes, his performance deteriorated quite a bit but he was such a key part of the team for so long and then he goes behind his back and tries to deal him? That's definitely a good way to create a team atmosphere. Go behind a players back and not only a players back but a team leaders back and try to deal him. Smart move...

Havlat was also Muckler. I think the downward spiral started under Muckler and ultimately got worse after Murray stepped in.

I guess so. Murray showed his cards and now he has to deal with the consequences. That's exactly what I said but if he had kept his mouth shut then he wouldn't be forced into doing something franchise shattering. He wouldn't need to trade Spezza and he could have went out and got a winger for him or a mentor.

But this one trade is going to define the direction this organization goes in for the next 5 or more years and from my view it's going to be a rebuilding phase...

Only has himself to blame. The closer it gets to July 1, the smaller the offers get. I'd bet Columbus has countered and taken the pick off the table.

Exactly, he did all of this to himself by being an idiot.
