he's on pace for 145 rbi'sJose is the man.
What a pickup this guy Lynn was. Gotta give management credit. They fixed easily our most glaring weakness at sp in an epic way. So nice to have good pitching. Please stay healthy. That’s all I ask.
Unfortunately, that's the price you pay when you trade for a rental. Unless the Sox throw some madman type of money at him - and we all know Jerry's disdain for huge pitcher contracts - it's almost a certainty that Lynn will test the FA market at season's end, and who can blame him. Especially if he pretty much keeps this all up thru October. He's no spring chicken by any measure, but the way he's built, the way he goes about his business, I think he easily has 3-5 more solid seasons ahead of him. He'll definitely get a long term contract and my guess it won't be with the Good Guys. Hope I'm wrong tho.Need to show him some money.
Lynn could have certainly pitched the 6th inning - or even completed the game. This was a La Russa thing like thinking its a 7 inning game - I need to get the bullpen some work.Question for those who were able to watch the game - why was Lynn pulled after only 5 innings and having only tossed 85 pitches. Was he showing signs of wear? I mean, Bummer almost blew the lead for him and possibly ending the day without being credited a W. Just on stats alone it doesn't make any sense, but again in fairness, I didn't watch the game, so maybe there's something missing that the stats don't show.

perhaps staying with the sox (projecting their near future) he may prefer to stay with a winner.Unfortunately, that's the price you pay when you trade for a rental. We can never rule this out, we do read here and there that a player signs for lesser money giving any number of reasons (playing for a winner, closer to home, etc). But 19 times out of 20 a professional sports athlete follows the $$$. All I'm saying is if there is no contract extension completed this season, then it's 99.999999% certain that Lance will test the market. Even here it doesn't necessarily mean we'll lose him, altho with our history of long term pitcher contracts, I'd give our odds of signing him then a very low chance.perhaps staying with the sox (projecting their near future) he may prefer to stay with a winner.

Yeah, but then again it's a good problem to have. Nothing would have been worse than trading a young, upcoming pitcher for a one year rental who sucks. At least we're getting our money's worth and then some. Lynn, with perhaps the exception of Rodon, has been our most consistent pitcher on the roster and is a major reason why we're currently atop the Central. He looks like one of those “I’m gonna score a gajillion dollar contract” players out there. We have a double edged sword on our hands.

Wow, think about that for a moment. Our top two pitchers on the team are both rentals at this point.
Are you talking about prior to the Sox releasing him at the end of last season? I only ask because I thought he was signed this year for just 3 mil. Maybe I misread it.I could easily see Rodon giving us a discount next season if what he is doing continues. We threw 10 million at that man and he certainly didn’t earn that kind of contract imo.
I thought he got 10 mill for this season. I remember reading it and thinking we could have had Kluber for only a little more. Are you talking about prior to the Sox releasing him at the end of last season? I only ask because I thought he was signed this year for just 3 mil. Maybe I misread it.
