Series Thread: sox vs o's

2 of the last 6 will not cut it if this team is serious. i know they were not pushovers but if you're going to compete with the big teams you need to win at least half those game, preferably more than half. they HAVE to win a minimum of 3 games vs the o's and 4 would be my expectations. the o's, plainly, suck. no excuse to lose a game.

a big cleveland series will follow so let's take care of business!

We're in first place whilst missing arguably 2 of our top 5 players. Our #5 starter is an MLB leading pitcher. I feel good....right now.

From a mathematical stand point I don't mind winning 2 out of 3 in a series, but I'm a fan. This week is bird season.

16 series so far...We've lost....2. We'll be fine. Honestly losing a series on the road to the Yankees is not that big a deal. It's the sweep with 2 games that were winnable that hurts. We should have, at worst, split these past 6 and let Friday and/or Sunday slip away. We're right there, though.

Expecting 4 out of 4 vs. any team is kind of asking for too much in baseball. Because baseball gonna do what it does...Even the sh*t teams win 60 games. Would be great to sweep, obviously...But 3 out of 4 is the reasonable goal vs. a team we are (considerably) better than.

Did you predict us to win 94 or more games? Cuz we're on pace for that. 3/4 would INCREASE that pace. I gotta look back, but if you didn't...You, too, are riding the low expectation roller coaster with me. Yeehaaa.

i don't watch a game and am ok with losing but keeping pace for some long range hope. every loss pisses me off!

and not that it matters but ... i think i picked between 84 and 94.

You don't need much hope when your entry into the discussion gives you 10 chances for being correct - when everyone else picked 1 number.

it's not a lottery so picking one number seems a little pretentious to me. i wasn't trying to be correct so much as being realistic about how they may do with the information i had at the time (which has changed btw). if i had to pick a range now it's be more like 88 to 98 because of the pitching. at the time i sure didn't expect what we're getting from rodon or cease.

My new prediction is 93 after watching our starting pitching go this season....and it would've been closer to 100 if we had Eloy and Luis. Depending on Yermin is going to hurt us some. He's not nearly polished enough, which is to be expected. He got hot but now the pitchers have the word on him...Frankly, we shouldn't have him taking on that learning curve in the heart of our order, but injury has created an abnormal necessity for us to try doing so. 'tis a shame and I'm doubtful he ends up north of .300 when it's all said and done. So gotta temper it...Still, we should be solidly into the 90s as an expectation at this point. They've earned that expectation/pressure.

i believe i stated back when he was over .400 that he'd end up around .250.

Speaking of Yerminator: he sure does know how to tattoo 3-0 pitches over the wall LOL

I feel that Mercedes will give them maybe 80-90% of what Eloy would have so that's not a huge loss. Robert hurts a lot but he will be back. It's the Sox vs Cleveland and maybe Minnesota for the division as expected.
