as i've said all along, it's a matter of pitching. they thought (for some odd reason) they could depend on rodon for one. they didn't prepare for not having kopech. and there's no depth anywhere else. even completely depending on giolito isn't smart because he has had 1 good half of major league experience. getting gio was also a gamble i believe they lose at. there were some pretty good pitchers available and they only got 1 because they depended on all these unproven/undependable/inexperienced pitchers. it was typical white sox stupidity.

They’re still a helluva lot better than they’ve been in a long time. Gotta keep doing positive things in upcoming offseason.

sure they're better. my issue is it took over ten years to even become competitive. you think they won't continue to dawdle? this is the same team, the same owner, the same kw in charge! i have a very hard time believing they will ever compete as long as that doesn't change. it's cool that you want to keep looking 'forward' and all, but imo they still only have half a team and i've seen them go thru this before. it's their culture. they make too many bad moves. they still spend their money unwisely. their only hope (as in '05) is to catch lighting in a bottle. maybe they will, but the odds are against it. they have some excellent potential on the team, except at pitching, catching, right field and maybe 2nd base. will it get better .... or will it not? their history says no, it won't.
