The O’s can afford him and Corbin and part with the top prospects, and still be pretty good next year, but I certainly hope they do NOT trade for him.

They’re not just a Soto away from competing.

Since they dont make moves other than bargain basement moves anyway, I’d place the chances of the O’s trading for Soto at 0%, but it’s awfully nice to be not an afterthought this year.

It’s more, who wouldn’t I trade for him. ThTa probably Julio, Logan Gilbert and Kirby.
If the M’s gave up Gilbert or Julio I swear to God I’m done with them forever …

Jerry is smarter than that.....but I hear ya

Yeah he’s been solid building the M’s back up, can’t imagine he’d do that, but as M’s fans we’ve felt that pain in the past …

.209/.385/.330, 111 OPS+ in 34 games as a Padre. He had started out very well (.296/.438/.493 in first 20 games) but is hitting .068/.305/.068 in his last 14.

The Nats called up Joey Meneses, who was 30 and had never played in the majors... and he's hitting .322/.348/.546 in 37 games.

That's one thing I kind of like about the NL having the DH. Some of these career minor leaguers who are swinging a hot bat get some opportunities when a team is short on players because of injuries or in this case trades. When Harper was out for a few weeks the Phillies brought up this guy in his mid to late 20's named Darick Hall who probably no one has ever heard of to get another lefthanded bat in the lineup and he hit 9 homers in a few weeks. If it wasn't for the DH who knows when he would have gotten a chance in the majors.
