Songs that are important to the history of music, not songs about a historical event.

First song to feature the fuzz effect on a guitar. It became a prominent feature in rock of the 60's and 70's, perhaps most famously on I Can't Get No Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones:

The most prominent bluegrass group in the world from the heart of Appalachia covering Bob Dylan was a big deal back in the 60's. It helped bring in an era of progressive bluegrass that was popular among the counterculture of the 60's. Lester Flatt was opposed to the whole idea, but I think he did well on vocals and rhythm guitar, but it ultimately lead to Flatt and Scruggs breaking up.

It's more the album than the title song, but this is Willie's first album after he moved to Austin from Nashville, and kicked off the Outlaw Country movement. Waylon Jennings provides some vocals and guitar on the album as well.

Very unique! I am embarrassed to say I have never heard this before. I was going to use "Foggy Mountain Breakdown", the first song Earl Scruggs wrote, and arguably the song that 'started' Bluegrass. I predict Earl Scruggs will be remembered as one of the true musical innovators of the 20th century. If it's Earl, it's great! One of the great things about Earl was that he was willing to play with anyone, in any style, hippies, rednecks, rebels, outlaws, etc. It didn't matter to Earl. It was obvious that he loved music, and loved to make it, whatever genre it was, with whoever was playing.

I love Earl Scruggs. If I'm making a list of the top masters of an instrument, Early and the banjo is gonna be at or near the top of my list.
