It can be both...and likely is. I still think Rowand's domeshot from Padilla contributed to his collapse as a useful player. No scientific reason to think so, just a hunch.

Velez is just terrible.....and it's a shame. He has all the talent in the world and can't even do one thing well/right. He's got power for a skinny guy, but he tries to hit home runs with it instead of leveling out his swing and going for doubles and triples. He's got speed, but a $.02 head and can't steal bases because he has no idea if the pitcher is going home or to first. He can play a bunch of positions on defense that his speed allows him to do in the OF.....but he can't read the bat off of the ball and gets horrible jumps (a lot of times his first instinct was to take a step forward.....). He's got a strong arm, but doesn't know where to throw.

PTMFB will not play for another team. He s a Giant for life now. IF (big if) he can play at all next year, he will be the Giants 5th OFer.

Perhaps he will sign Cody Ransom, who was our secret agent with the Snakes this season. As soon as they released him, they started winning, and didn't look back.

When Ransom was released, on August 22, the Snakes had lost six straight. Once he was released, they won 9 in a row, and finished with a 25-9 record.
