BCS Bowl Projections: Fiesta Bowl Participant: Stanford Cardinal | Bleacher Report

Could the fiesta bowl really pass on the big least champ for the number 2 pac 10 team. I thought that if you win your AQ conference you are guarunteed a spot in a BCS bowl.

Bowl Committees want to fill seats. It pumps needed money into the economy via hotals, restaurants, car rentals, and tourist attractions.

The Fiesta gets the last pick this year so it's assumed a shitty Big East champ will not get picked by anyone else.

Not so fast.

The Orange Bowl is on the east coast. The Big East winner's fan base will be more likely to travel to Florida (which also has a lot of northeast coast retirees) for their bowl game. The Orange Bowl also knows Stanford fans don't travel well in general and being a western team won't likely go all the way to the east coast.

Stanford (as an At Large) could potentially fall to the Fiesta which would make the Fiesta happy as a pig in shit because they get a better match-up and they'll be closer to Stanford's fan base.

Yeah, technically speaking, the Big East champ is not tied to the Fiesta Bowl like the big 12 champ is.

The Orange doesn't have to worry about nobody watching because they are the only bowl game on Jan 3rd..There's no TV competition from a better bowl match-up.

Big 10- Rose
Pac 10- Rose
SEC- Sugar
Big XII- Fiesta
