It’s all about what you give up In trades. For a 4th round pick you should expect him to be a decent #3 at worst, not hope he becomes that And for what is very likely an early 4th round pick you can make the case being a decent #3 isn’t enough Because there is a good chance that pick is around player #110 in the draft.

the other point is why now? Are we going to have playoff success this year now if we just added a “decent #3”? Football is about SBs, not one and dones. That 4th round pick could most certainly be used in the off-season for a good player. I’d have been unloading bad contracts at the trade deadline, not trading for marginal guys. we should have added a couple draft picks, not given one up. It’s just the incompetence of this front office that seems to be th only consistent factor.
you do understand. I was never a fan of this trade. Right?
If you read the thread this is more of my glass half full, trying to look at a bad situation.
Literally the only good things I know right now. He is supposed to be a speedster & he is on a rookie contract. That is it.
Your "at worst" is what I hope is my "at least" becomes a decent #3. Which would mean he might have the possibility to eventually become a #2. I dont have my head in the clouds that he will magically become some stud WR.
More than likely he ends up cut after his rookie contract is up.
Now I could just sit here & bash what has already been done, but that has already been said several times over. Or I can hope for a realistic reachable outcome if stars align.
Trade already happened. Cant change that. If he becomes a decent #3. "At least" he would be useful. I am not gonna root against that.

I hated the TO trade, but once he was a Cowboy I still rooted for him to do well.

I dont want to say Mingo was a bad trade so I should root for his failure so I can say I was right. I would love to be wrong.

I think we all will hope the kid turns out to be an excellent player for us. Whether he does or not, it doesn't change the fact that eventually, overpaying will run your team into the ground

Being from SEC country , I was able to see Mingo plenty of times on TV. When he was young , I remember thinking he was going to be the next big star. He had the catchy name , the body , the QB , the head coach , the offense itself, it was almost impossible for him not to succeed. He really never took off. He had a pretty good Sr year but nothing spectacular. His measurables were always great. Maybe he can put it together but i have my doubts.

trying to use glass half full on Mingo coming to town.

He has been on a horrific team with horrific Qbs.
So maybe change in venue is what he needs.
Also even if he ends up just so-so, I hear he is a speedster. So if true, maybe he loosens up the defense for other receivers to get more room. :hope:

I think Carolina fans should more concerned about their QB situation.

I think there is upside. He has good speed for his size. He looks bigger than all the other receivers on the roster. He could be useful. He seems to run good routes. I noticed he has 10 yards per reception. I watched some tape. That QB missed him on some deeper throws.

They at least are trying to improve the position. The receivers obviously are not getting it done. Cee Dee is constantly bracketed by two or even three guys and Tolbert can't seem to beat one on one coverage very consistently . Brooks is JAG. They should throw Mingo into the fire immediately. They have nothing to lose now. They should also play Lance on occasion.

If he becomes a “decent” #3 for a 4th it’s kind of a crappy trade and if this following happens its a horrible trade: “More than likely he ends up cut after his rookie contract is up” and this is what you say is more than likely.

The following doesn't even make any sense. Who would even do that :noidea: “I don't want to say Mingo was a bad trade so I should root for his failure so I can say I was right” in what world does being realistic about bad moves mean we are rooting against the players. Sometimes the comments on here are just bizarre. We are here to discuss our thoughts on this team and what happens with it, not pretend all is Pollyanna like we are 11 year olds who think we are going to win the superbowl every year Or that every player we bring in is going to be a great move. Look at every off-season move we made. How many have been great moves? Being a fan doesn’t mean not being at least somewhat objective although some always seem to be living in a dream world.

This^

what you give up matters
Seems like Jerry can't help himself when it comes to trading for receivers . He gets fleeced every time he does it yeah Mingo could develop, but that was a high price to pay for a player that has proven nothing.

Unless Rush carries this team somehow.
I think we will just put Dak up on the shelf for the year.

Once the season is actually lost.
Let Trey gets some reps & see if he can mount to anything or drum up any trade value if possible (dont even know if he is FA or not next year)

If Rush puts us on a winning streak somehow. Then obviously this idea changes.

Fuck me gently.

About the only thing to look forward to this year is the potential of JJ having a major clanger on TV during an exceptional rout.

With the product he’s putting on the field, he should never have a smile on his face on camera.

Agree on Dak. Trade deadline passed and Lances 5th year option wasn’t exercised so he is a FA at season’s end

as far as trade goes. I meant for next year if he was still under contract. if he did any good later in this season. But apparently that isnt gonna be a thing with him being a FA.

Nothing by trade, but if he tears it up and signs big somewhere else we would get a comp pick

Dak officially out for the season. Play Coop till we have 8 losses and then see what Lance has got

We already know what Rush is. They need to play Lance some in all of the remaining games. Rush is a sitting duck in the pocket. He does not move that well. They should maybe be less predictable on offense.

I actually think Rush will play real well, though it may not show on the scoreboard. They have a better team right now. But as long as they have that Dipshit of a head coach we have a chance

I remember Mingo coming out. He has physical traits, but I read the Panthers were ecstatic to get a 4th for him. It's hard to believe a 2nd year kid that the worst team in the league spent a 2nd on and couldn't wait to part ways with will be the answer. Is Jerry ready to trade Schoony? Same draft and round
We ain't getting a 2nd for schoony
