Then what was the interception last game in garbage time? Don't count that? It goes both ways. Not totally trying to defend Jay here, but he isn't the entire problem, not a large amount of the problem, not even a medium amount of the problem.

There's more to it than Jay,but Jay is more of a problem than the line......

Stats do lie here.....And he forgot to mention all of Jays timely interceptions.
Sure Jay has upside.....But he will never give up throwing them damn timely interceptions.

Look at the end of the Detroit and Dallas games. Both had game ending ints. In the end zone.
And how many times have you seen him under throw receivers? He seems to never be able to hit a wr in stride either.

..We will NEVER win with him........This is where the team needs to start.

Look at the end of the Detroit and Dallas games. Both had game ending ints. In the end zone.

Look, I'm all on board with the Jay bashing at this point, but give me a break with that. lol

The Detroit final play was run with :00 left on the clock facing a 34-17 deficit, and Jay having no one open threw one up for grabs. Both were complete desperation throws. There's so many better arguments against Jay. Those two plays are irrelevant.

If you want to make a big deal out of Cutler getting extra yards and TD passes during garbage time, then you also have to acknowledge that he should have less than 15 INTs. The INT at the end of the Dallas game was a desperation pass, since they were down by 2 TDs with a little over 1 minute left. The week before against Detroit, his INT on the last play was completely meaningless. It was a blowout and he just threw the ball to the endzone, not caring if he got a pick. And a few weeks ago there was that pick on the long pass right before the half, which was completely meaningless and everyone was wondering what Trestman was doing with the playcalling. I can also remember 2 other meaningless picks early in the season. So it goes both ways. His stats and passr rating have been helped AND hurt by all the garbage time play. INTs are actually a killer for passer rating, so those meaningless picks hurt his rating.

His passer rating is 91.7. That's a very good rating, but not elite. Cutler has been a good QB this season. No one is saying he's an elite QB. But he's a good QB. Above average. You can win with a good QB. The answer is to improve the defense so the team can win with a good but not great QB. Because truly elite QBs that carry teams on their backs are VERY hard to find. If you dump Cutler and go with a young prospect, you're risking going back to years of having bad QBs like the Bears had before Cutler. Trust me, you'll miss having a 90 passer rating QB if you go back to having these awful QBs with ratings in the 70s.

hey, here's something interesting. I think everyone - on both sides of this debate - will find a surprise here or there:

Jay Cutler: Situational Stats at NFL.com

So his best quarter is actually the third quarter, but his worst is the fourth quarter. Here's to all of us being partly right, and all of us being partly wrong!

Pro Football Focus has broken down Jay Cutler's play for 2014 on each individual play. A grade for an average player would be 0. The following link explains how Pro Football Focus grades a player's performance - https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/grading/.

Here's the article showing Jay's grade relative to other QB's in the NFL this year:

Pro Football Focus Grading
Pro Football Focus (PFF) has quickly become one of the most dependable websites for researching NFL player performance. They have an intricate grading system that judges a player based on each play individually, not their overall stats or team record.
The goal of our detailed grading process is to gauge how players execute their roles over the course of a game by looking at the performance of each individual on each play.
Jay Cutler’s Individual Performance

After reading how PFF grades players, how do you think Cutler has done in 2014?
“Moving forward, there’s definitely gonna be people saying that this was the wrong move. That’s fine. That’s their opinion,” Cutler said after signing his new contract.
One of the most problematic parts of the Cutler debate among fans is the lack of factual information. This is an objective result based on PFF’s grading system. Nobody is “hating” on Cutler or ignoring Chicago’s catastrophic defensive failure this season.

Cutler Grades

  • Passing: -14.9
  • Rush: 0.5
  • Overall: -14.1
Without knowing exactly what a -14.1 means, let me put it in perspective for you. When ranking each quarterback’s performance for the 2014 season, PFF ranks Cutler 33rd overall. That ranks him below Josh McCown, Kyle Orton and damn near every single other starting quarterback in the league … with the exception of Derek Carr, Geno Smith and Brian Hoyer.

According to PFF, Cutler’s only “good” game this season was against Atlanta. Almost every single other game resulted in a negative overall score, with the exception of one 0.8.To understand what that comparison means … Ryan Fitzpatrick is the 10th ranked QB overall, he’s only had three games with a negative score. Cutler’s only had TWO games with a positive score.

The Debate Is Over

Did you know that Cutler is the HIGHEST PAID player in the NFL in 2014? Yet, he ranks as the 33rd best quarterback. Even if you think Cutler is “good” it’s clear to everyone he’s not “great,” yet he’s being paid to be. He’s getting paid like an elite quarterback, yet he’s won ONE playoff game in his NINE seasons.
“There is a serious “frustration” with the way Cutler has played this season, and, according to Rapoport, the team considered benching him during his dismal showing versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers three weeks ago. However, the Bears didn’t, mainly because Jimmy Clausen is the backup.” – NFL.com
“Mike Greenberg, from ESPN, indicated he thinks the Bears are best served attempting to trade Cutler. The basis of his argument was the fact that Jay has one playoff victory in five seasons and wasn’t shy about pointing out that Tony Romo would probably have 9-10 wins already with the talent Chicago has assembled.” – SportsMockery.com
For those of you that still think Jay Cutler can win a Super Bowl, you are officially on an island by yourself. It’s not the defense’s fault that Cutler has put up another below average season. He ranks second in the NFL in interceptions and has over 20 total turnovers this year.
Trade him to Tennessee … Oh wait, Zach Mettenberger (#22) is ranked higher than Cutler too! Damn.
“What’s funny in all the complaining about Cutler’s play this season is he’s actually having the best statistical years of his career.” – CBS
Let that sink in.

Kind of funny, because I believe the comment about Ryan Fitzpatrick at #10 is on a team that would, I think, trade immediately for Jay Cutler.
