All-Time #MLBRank: The greatest players ever

If you don't want to look through all of them, here are the guys who have played for the Mariners listed:

The reason for Edgar being listed at 3B is because they aren't listing DHs.

SS: Alex Rodriguez (#2)
2B: Robinson Cano (#10)
3B: Edgar Martinez (#9), Adrian Beltre (#8)
LF: Rickey Henderson (#3)
CF: Ken Griffey Jr. (#4)
RF: Ichiro (#9)

Not a huge surprise those guys did some incredible things during their careers. Don't have time go through the hole thing right now but will later.

Did they do pitchers too?

Edgar should be in the Hall. Hopefully his recent return to the game will help his case.

Edgar had some great seasons at 3rd base before the hamstring injury. Even with the DH penalty, he put up 49.3 WAR from 94-04 (his age 31-41 seasons, btw) and averaged 5.5 WAR per 650 innings. His 147 OPS+ has him tied with Thome/Schmidt/Stargell/McCovey (and Thome/Stargell/McCovey weren't exactly known for their defensive prowess).

too bad Martinez was held down in AAA for years by the immortal Jim Presley.

David Ortiz made the 1B list. Drafted and played for the M's farm team.

Omar Vizquel was probably considered top 10 SS as well.

Why wouldn't they? Randy would have smoked all the others out there! I'd consider Moyer up there somewhere, too.

Randy was ranked #2

Steve Lyons thinks Edgar shouldn't be in the HOF. Not because he was a DH, but because he had fewer than 2300 hits. Pure idiocy.

There'll always be people who think that hits/HRs/RBI are the most important things when considering HoF credentials. Few of them would understand that Edgar would have more hits than many currently in the hall (including this year's inductee, Mike Piazza).
