ESPN's John Keim reports there is a "solid chance" impending free agent Pierre Garcon is not back with the Redskins next season.

Keim reports Garcon will not return for less than the $7.6 million he earned this season, a number he may be able to command on the open market after putting up a 79/1,041/3 line in his contract year. With DeSean Jackson also heading to free agency, the Redskins could look a lot different on offense next season even if (when) Kirk Cousins is retained. 2016 first-rounder Josh Doctson and Jamison Crowder are solid buys in Dynasty formats.

Its possible Crowder will be the only returning starter at WR. Why Grant is even allowed to be on the field is baffling. Harris, could see more time next year. We really don't know what we have in Doctson. And Reed likely will get another concussion. Man, I personally like Garcon but his agent is in no position to make demands with an possession receiver that's 30 years old.

I think we are massively F'D with possibly only Crowder returning and a bust at the moment Doctson like I been saying Kirk Cousins is going to take a nose dive off a cliff

Get rid of Lauvao and Hall and we've made up the cap space and more to keep Garcon at that price. But PG, according to the story, wants a salary matching last year's number. That doesn't include any signing bonus which would then spike his cap number higher.

Garcon has a lot of roots here, including several businesses. I guess he could leave on a dime, but it would be pretty hard given all his ties to the DMV.

Good or bad though?
To me, having a plan is good. Having Scot in charge of it even better. While Scots not perfect (he's GOT to do better with his early FA picks) he is a proven commodity on the long view and I like knowing an adult is in charge with all the decisions that are coming up, QB being the biggest one.

Are there any Garcon types in free agency? To be honest with you guys, Pierre Garcon is among the very few with the "I'll fight your ass": mentality that this team desperately needs. That showed itself in our "must win" games where the dawg came out in this guy. It is too bad that we don't really have but one guy like this on defense, but equally telling that he doesn't don the "C" on his jersey!! This coming from someone who has never been a fan of paying Garcon #1 wideout money.

Actually neither Garcon or JAckson have gotten #1 WR money as you put it. Garcon made the same amount as Mike Crabtree for crying out loud. Hell Jeremy Maclin made more.

His cap hit amounts per season were:

2012....$4,684,375

2013....$8,106,250

2014....$9,700,000

2015....$9,700,000

2016....$10,200,000

That's actual dollars including bonuses and base salary. Please don't rewrite history, when he signed here it was for #1 WR money. BTW: haven't we done all of this before? I'm out.

Three things I can count on with you Sty

You will proclaim most starters on the Redskins as over paid, or potentially over paid.
You will always be a fan of the team changing its name
You got a soft spot for QB's of color I noticed.

Its all good though, still love and respect. :thumb:

Heh

Feels like Scot has a plan in the works and it might surprise some of us.

As long as that plan is to address the DLine, pass rush, ILB, safety position, RG and running game, its a great plan!

Lets hope its better than his previous two plans. Jutgr read an article opining tha Scotty Mac screwd the pooch in 96.
