There is a chance that Baker returns since things have not gone well for him in TB. I guess I can understand them getting rid of Jackson and/or Garcon, but it sounds like they didn't even talk to them about the chance of returning & God knows that Pryor didn't work out (& sounds like he is going back to CLE).

Again w/ Brown I love the guy & want him to return just no sure he is worth 10+ M / year. Hopefully they can meet somewhere in the middle.

Be hard for Baker to come back as he signed a three year deal with the Bucs unless they are planning to cut him. Also Bruce tends to burn bridges when he is done with some one. There are a couple of recent Ex-Redskins I can see them reaching out to... Baker isn't one of them.

Redskins: Why a Chris Baker return could be in the cards for 2018

They might - at least that was the tone of this article. Now things might have changed since this time or this article may be all hype - who knows. We can hope.

I would love to see him come back. Still think we need to draft one more young buck for the line early, But Baker and the McGuys rotating with Allen, Vea and Ionman would be a nice rotation... hell we could even keep Ziggy just to keep Dean Happy.

Line would be solid for the next 3-4 years barring Injury ( we cant be the walking wounded again can we?)

That would leave finding ILBs ( to start) and depth at Safety.

Su'a Cravens' future with Redskins remains unsettled

Yep - I was somewhat hopeful about Cravens returning & still see it as a possibility. However after reading this article I am having second thoughts. I am Ok w/ the time Cravens took off but this now appears to be a repeating pattern in his life & that whole thing about being profiled in VA sounds very fishy. According to various reports it sounds like he was going double the speed limit in a school zone, was disoriented & his car reeked of pot. If he was targeted by the cops then shame on them, but in this case he might need to step up & be accountable.

It also sounds like the Redskins current DBs may make this guy expendable. We will see.

Zach Brown headlines Redskins non-Kirk Cousins free agent decisions

Hmm - pretty big gap between 2.3 & 10+ M / year. I like Brown but he is not the absolute best at his position so not sure if he is worth absolute top $$ so in all honesty this one is a bit tricky (as mentioned in the article). This is one where I would not just blast the FO - this is a decision you have to consider carefully unless there is some compromise.

BTW - I also don't blame Brown for trying to get top $$ - either w/ the Redskins or some other team.

I think a lot of people blame KC for wanting the money he has earned...why aren’t people mad at Brown for trying to get top dollar?

Personally I don't begrudge anyone for getting all they can. After all this is not just a game for these guys - it is what they do for a living.

Beyond that I have said all along that if the Skins extend Cousins they likely can make the hit for the next few years manageable. However applying one of the tags will be problematic & I hope that they avoid that route (unless it is simply temporary while they work out an extension).

NFL1000: Ranking the Top Inside Linebackers of 2017 Season

Well - this ranking has Brown as the 7th best ILB in the NFL - not bad & the other 6 are very good players. Well - makes a good case for him but still not sure if it justifies $10M+ / year. Perhaps they can lower this a bit & still make both parties happy.

As the article mentions Brown was inconsistent in coverage at times but perhaps that was a scheme & coaching issue (possible since Brown is very talented & appears to have a great attitude). Let's hope that things work out in this area. BTW - this is one IMO is a gray area. Let's stop already in making everything into either liking or hating a given player - there is a middle ground.

Sooooooooo we are just supposed to accept the fact Bruce might let the two most productive players on offense and defense walk in the same off-season after letting two 1,000 yard Wrs go in the previous off-season?

This while the Eagles have already locked up Jeffery, and have Wentz, Peters, and Sproles returning next year.

Are we even trying to win anymore or has Dan just thrown in the towel and decided this is no more than a money grab at this point?

Yep!!

What our solution will be is to spend the 8 we could have given Zach and go go sign 3 scrubs at 2.67 a pop. Hope I'm wrong.

Good question, so in order to be consistent, I don't give a shit if they offer Brown half ownership of the team either. In fact, Kirk getting one half and Brown the other effectively gives us new ownership and most likely a new GM. Then we're all like this:

If they can agree on this type of amt then I say - fine - do it. Now if it becomes $11M or more then the FO has a tough decision. The problem with this team is that they have screwed up both on big $$ FAs & multiple low paid FAs. Let's hope that moving fwd they agree on a reasonable contract for Brown (like the one you mention) & he becomes one of the FA success stories for the Skins.

Brown should be resigned as he was the defense for the better part of the year. 7-8M per year is not out of the question and realistic for Brown. A 3 year deal w/4th year team option would take Brown to his 33rd birthday. With his speed and instincts I wouldn't be afraid of that deal as we have an out after year 3. The guy deserves a fair pay day and why shouldn't we pay.

I think 7-8 million a year is warranted. That is what Trevathon got last offseason and they are the same caliber player.

That figure seems a bit high to me for a guy who's strength is in the run game and not so much in pass defense. I am for re-signing him just not at that figure. There is a reason no one has given him that much money yet.

unfortunately that might be the market by my question is does this set the franchise back a year or 2 if he walks

Not if you bring in a guy his equal.

I would truly love to see him return, but I don't think a non-QB who is not considered one of the top 20-30 players in the NFL leaving is going to set the team back 1-2 years. In this case the Skins just need to retool for that position - such is life in the salary cap era - it sometimes involves difficult decisions. If Brown demands $11M+ I am good with them either retaining or moving on from Brown.

I top out on Brown at 8 mil per season personally
