Bingo.

He either went all Lady Bing or he was benched after that because he doesn't even crack to top 50 in most penalty minutes for a season.

Kinda like Stan Mikita did. Borderline goon at first, then got religion and became a Saint.

I'll let dash confirm of course but I'm pretty sure that Howie Meeker is right. He also says that your stick is too long

I'll take your word for it that it is Meeker - And wasn't Howie always beaking about guys having too much curve meaning that they couldn't backhand the puck well?

Sounds like Howie.

He was right about the stick length though. I look at my parents' old pictures of me as a kid now and think things like "how did I ever stickhandle when I was 10?"

I'm fairly convinced that Meeker was senile before the age of 22.

Anyone ever see that time on TSN when Jim Ralph and Darryl Reaugh did an impression of Howie Meeker and Don Cherry together? It was priceless.

Howie Meeker was correct, by the way.

Haha I just reread and realized that this was puckhead's question and not yours. That explains the response!

Great Posts!
When Gordie Howe returned to the NHL as a member of the Hartford Whalers for the 1979-80 season,he became the first player to preform on the ice in league play AFTER he had been elected to the Hockey Hall Of Fame.He was not, however, the only Hall Of Famer to appear on the ice in an NHL game that season.Who was the other?

Can't believe we won. I'm so judgemental of my own team, but that was a good Canucks game. Not a good first but good game

Quick should have got tossed.I mean it's a Sedin with 6 penalty's for the Whole year.C'mon no way he meant to knee him. The puck was loose.

that was the year the WHA teams came in, so maybe Bobby Hull? He came back with the Jets for a bit
not sure when he made it in the Hall, or if he was blacklisted for a while because of the move.

Carl Brewer? I remember him coming back to play for the Leafs for a few games that season.

I don't know the answer, but my first instinct is that it's significant that he said "appear on the ice in an NHL game" and not "play in an NHL game"
